08/25/16DBReggie NelsonKneeQUESTIONABLENelson (knee) participated in position drills during Monday's practice, ESPN's Paul Gutierrez reports.

It was encouraging to see Nelson partake in some team drills Monday after sitting out of practice the last several weeks. While he still has a ways to go before he's fully recovered, Oakland hasn't ruled out the notion that Nelson could return to the field in time for Week 1. In the event that Nelson isn't ready, Nate Allen would likely fill his void.

08/14/16DLMario EdwardsHipQUESTIONABLEEdwards (hip) will not need surgery on his sprained hip, Scott Bair of CSN California reports.

Edwards injured his hip while tackling Cardinals' running back David Johnson during Thursday's preseason contest. Edwards was given a four-to-six week timetable, but it was questionable if he needed surgery or not. Now that it's clear he just needs time and not surgery, he'll likely be able to return sooner than he otherwise would've, though his status for the regular season opener is still in question.

08/04/16DBKarl JosephUndisclosedPROBABLEJoseph did not practice on Thursday for undisclosed reasons, Vic Tafur of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Joseph missed time in the offseason while he recovered from an ACL tear suffered back in October, but he hasn't missed any time in camp due to the injury. It's unclear if he's been given the day off for rest or if he's dealing with another injury of sorts. He should be considered day-to-day until more information is available. TJ Carrie figures to get some reps with the first team while Joseph is sidelined.

07/29/16RBMarcel ReeceSuspensionSUSPENDReece has been suspended four games for violating the NFL's policy on performance enhancing drugs, CSN Bay Area reports.

Reece, who will sit out Sunday's season finale against the Chiefs, is thus eligible to return to action after the Raiders' third game of the 2016 season. In the meantime, he can participate in all of the team's offseason and preseason practices and games.

07/29/16LBAldon SmithSuspensionSUSPENDSmith (suspension) has entered a treatment center, ESPN reports.

Smith's reason for seeking treatment is unclear, but it comes just days after a Periscope video titled "Fire up session" surfaced of an unidentified man, suspected to be him, talking about a hand-rolled cigarette shown on screen. In wake of that video, which appeared under an account previously used by Smith, the NFL has launched an investigation into whether he violated protocols required of a suspended player seeking reinstatement from a substance abuse violation. While that investigation continues, Smith's move to now enter a treatment facility hardly seems coincidental, and more details regarding his situation should surface soon.

05/03/16TEClive WalfordKneePROBABLEWalford (knee) failed to receive a single target during Thursday's preseason loss to the Packers.

Walford was the first tight end off the bench with Lee Smith getting the start. Walford remains the better fantasy option despite being listed No. 2 on the depth chart due to Smith's role as a blocker. If Walford earns more snaps than just obvious passing downs throughout the regular season, he could become a productive factor in the team's aerial attack.

08/31/16RBJamaal CharlesKneeQUESTIONABLECharles is behind schedule in his recovery from last year's torn ACL and has not yet regained the role of featured back, ESPN reports. "For Jamaal, it's [a matter of] getting trust in the leg,'' head coach Andy Reid said. "Every day he does a little but more and a little bit more and his cuts are a little bit sharper. It's just a matter of time and we're OK there. We're OK with that.''

Spencer Ware has been getting the most snaps with the starters in practice along with Charcandrick West, with few left for Charles, the report adds. This report would make it appear that Charles may begin the season in a reserve role or as part of committee at running back. Watch his progress closely as Week 1 of the regular season approaches.

08/22/16LBTamba HaliKneeQUESTIONABLEHali (knee) has recently returned to practice but is still dealing with swelling and pain in his knee and he will likely sit out the preseason finale at a minimum, Adam Teicher of ESPN reports.

The veteran linebacker hasn't seen any preseason action to this point, so even if he were to play in Week 1, it's no guarantee he will be in game shape. With Justin Houston (knee) having ben placed on the regular-season PUP list, the Chiefs are counting on Hali and Dee Ford to pick up the slack at outside linebacker. While he may no longer have the mobility and upside of years past, Hali should be a serviceable pass rusher again in 2016 if he can remain healthy

08/15/16QBTyler BrayNeckQUESTIONABLEBray (neck) will start at quarterback for the Chiefs on Thursday, Terez Paylor of The Kansas City Star reports

Bray has been nursing a neck injury for several weeks now, but it appears the Chiefs third stringer will be ready in time for the season opener. Bray is expected to be under center for most of the preseason finale.

    (Updated 08/30/2016)
08/15/16RBCharcandrick WestElbowPROBABLEWest (elbow) has been ruled out for the Chiefs' third preseason game Saturday against the Bears, BJ Kissel of the team's official site reports.

West was thought to have had a chance at playing in this one, but the Chiefs likely don't want to take their chances on the pesky elbow injury he's been nursing for over a week. However, all indications point towards West being ready for the regular season opener when the Chiefs square off with a Chargers team that allowed the 27th-most yards rushing in 2015.

08/11/16LBDezman MosesHipPROBABLELinebacker Dezman Moses has signed with the Chiefs, according to the Baltimore Sun.
08/08/16DBDeveron CarrUndisclosedPROBABLEThe Colts waived/injured cornerback Deveron Carr on Monday. If he clears waivers, then he will revert to season-ending injured reserve.
08/07/16DBMarcus PetersIllnessPROBABLEPeters left Saturday's practice early to receive an IV, the Kansas City Star reports.

The issue likely relates to dehydration and unless something more comes of it, there shouldn't be much reason to worry about it. Still, Peters' situation should still be monitored over the next couple days to ensure that's the case.

08/06/16DLRakeem Nunez-RochesFootPROBABLEThe Chiefs have signed six of their draft picks on Monday including: Mitch Morse, Ramik Wilson, D.J. Alexander, James O'Shaughnessy, Rakeem Nunez-Roches and Da'Ron Brown, the team announced.
08/02/16DBDaniel SorensenFootQUESTIONABLESorensen did not practice Tuesday due to a foot injury, Terez A. Paylor of the Kansas City Star reports.

The severity of the injury was unspecified and no timeline was given for his return.

06/15/16LBDee FordKneePROBABLEFord (knee) left each of the final two days of minicamp because of tendinitis in his knee, The Kansas City Star reports.

Ford was reported to have left minicamp with a "sore knee", spelling concern over potential structural damage. However, Ford has reportedly avoided any such catastrophe, leaving head coach Andy Reid to say that his 2014 first round pick will be fine for training camp.

    (Updated 07/12/2016)
06/12/16DBD.J. WhiteHamstringPROBABLEWhite left practice on Friday with a hamstring strain, Terez Paylor of the Kansas City Star reports.

The severity of the injury is still unknown but it shouldn't hinder the sixth round pick from being ready in time for the regular season.

    (Updated 06/12/2016)
04/08/16WRDe'Anthony ThomasNot Injury RelatedPROBABLEThomas may not make the Chiefs' 53-man roster, Adam Teicher of ESPN reports.

Teicher suggests that Thomas is not among the team's top six receivers and sits behind Tyreek Hill on the punt returner spot of the depth chart. Unless he can carve out a role in the final couple preseason games, it may spell the end of the speedster's run in Kansas City.

    (Updated 08/25/2016)
02/16/16TEJames O'ShaughnessyFootPROBABLEO'Shaughnessy (foot) has been placed on season-ending injured reserve.

O'Shaughnessy, a fifth-round rookie, had six catches for 87 yards in seven games. Now that he's done for the season, Demetrius Harris will serve as the No. 2 tight end behind Travis Kelce.
