Cardinals free safety Tyrann Mathieu, who tore his ACL and LCL in December, no longer needs a knee brace but has accepted the fact he won't be ready for training camp, reports the Arizona Republic. Mathieu has been rehabbing diligently and hopes to be ready for Week 1.
As Jaguars receiver Cecil Shorts enters the final year of his rookie contract, the 26-year-old must prove he can stay healthy and play 16 games, reports ESPN.com. Shorts missed 11 games over his first three seasons, including the last three games of 2013 with a sports hernia.
Jaguars general manager Dave Caldwell told team supporters during an event in Jacksonville Thursday that they're unsure on just how well suspended receiver Justin Blackmon is doing. The team doesn't have a firm timetable on his return. The Jaguars have previously said they'd like to have him back.
