The Mets placed Young on the 10-day injured list Wednesday, retroactive to Monday, due to a meniscus tear in his left knee.

Young reported discomfort in his left knee Tuesday, and further imaging revealed a more severe injury that will result in the 30-year-old undergoing surgery, per Will Sammon of The Athletic. It's a significant blow to the Mets' depth at first base and in the outfield, especially with Juan Soto (calf) still on the 10-day IL. Young is looking at a lengthy absence depending on the extent of the surgery needed to repair the tear, which could have him sidelined until the summer.

The White Sox designated Harris for assignment Wednesday.

Harris will cede his spot on the 40-man roster and 26-man active roster to one of the organization's top prospects in Sam Antonacci, who received a call-up from Triple-A Charlotte. After receiving a promotion of his own from Charlotte on April 7, Harris proceeded to go 3-for-12 with a double, two stolen bases and a 4:1 BB:K in six games for the White Sox. He'll now go through the waiver process and will have the ability to elect free agency if he goes unclaimed.

Hoskins is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cardinals.

Since the calendar flipped to April, Hoskins has slashed just .152/.222/.333 with a 27.8 percent strikeout rate over nine games. As a result of his ongoing struggles, Hoskins will be left out of the lineup for the second straight day, with both of his absences coming against right-handed starting pitchers. Hoskins should still be a mainstay in the starting nine versus southpaws, but Guardians manager Stephen Vogt may prefer to use Kyle Manzardo at first base and a rotation of players at the designated-hitter spot against righties.

Stewart went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 2-1 win over the Giants.

His fourth-inning shot off Robbie Ray ended up being the game-winning hit. Stewart has left the yard in three of the last six games, continuing an impressive start to his first full MLB season that has seen him compile a .310/.431/.638 slash line with five homers, three steals, 11 runs and 11 RBI in 17 contests, as well as more walks (13) than strikeouts (12).

Guerrero gave the Blue Jays the lead for good in the 10th with an RBI double, and he came around to score two batters later on a two-run double from Myles Straw. Guerrero has just one home run and seven RBI this season (in 70 plate appearances), but the 27-year-old slugger ranks fifth in the majors in OBP (.443) and seventh in batting average (.328). He is in the midst of a five-game hitting streak, going 10-for-20 with three RBI, four doubles, four runs scored and a steal over that span.

Murakami went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer, two walks and an additional run scored during the White Sox's 8-5 loss to the Rays on Tuesday.

The Rays held a comfortable 8-3 lead in the ninth inning, but Murakami made the score more respectable after smacking a two-run homer off Yoendrys Gomez. It was Murakami's first home run since April 4 and fifth of the year, which leads the White Sox and is tied for fourth most in the American League. He has demonstrated power early on in his first major-league season but has just a .167 batting average on 70 plate appearances and a 33.8 percent strikeout rate, and his 39.2 percent whiff rate is one of the worst in MLB.

Smith went 3-for-4 with a double and four RBI during Atlanta's 6-5 win over Miami on Tuesday.

Smith put Atlanta on the board with an RBI single in the second inning, and he gave his team the lead for good in the eighth with a bases-clearing double. The veteran slugger has logged at least one RBI in four of his last five outings, and over that span he has gone 8-for-14 (.571) with one home run and nine RBI. Smith should continue to see regular playing time as Atlanta's designated hitter for as long as Sean Murphy (hip) is on the 10-day injured list.

Casas (knee) was diagnosed with an abdominal strain Tuesday, Tim Healey of The Boston Globe reports.

Casas began the regular season on the injured list to finish up his recovery from patellar tendon surgery but began to have problems with his left side after he resumed a swinging progression. Now that he's been confirmed to be dealing with an abdominal strain, the 26-year-old will be shut down from all activity until he begins to feel better. The Red Sox will then begin to build him up in a similar fashion to spring training, at which point a clearer timeline for his return to play could emerge.
