Twins reliever Jared Burton took his sixth relief loss Monday against the Yankees after he failed to hold a 4-3 lead in the eighth inning. Burton has been struggling the last few weeks, going 1-4 with an 11.00 ERA in his last 10 outings.
Despite his recent struggles, Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said he's sticking with Burton is high-pressure situations.
"We got it to the right guys at the end but Burton just had a rough time," Gardenhire said, per MLB.com. "He's had a couple scuffles here and we definitely need him. He's been very good for us and we desperately need him to get going again here. He's a big part of our bullpen as one of the last two guys."
