Athletics' Steve Lombardozzi: Reassigned to minors camp
The Athletics reassigned Lombardozzi to their minor-league camp Sunday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Lombardozzi had little chance of winning a utility role with the Athletics with the organization earmarking Chad Pinder for those duties in 2018. Unless he asks for a release from the Athletics, Lombardozzi is expected to open the season with Triple-A Sacramento.

Athletics' Steve Lombardozzi: Signs minor-league deal with A's
Lombardozzi signed a minor-league contract with an invite to spring training Monday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Lombardozzi has appeared in the majors in six of the last seven seasons, though he hasn't played more than 20 games in the big leagues since 2013. He's a versatile utility player who has appeared at four different positions, though his glove grades out poorly and his bat is quite weak, with a .260/.292/.333 career slash line. He could stick with the Athletics as organizational depth and could potentially appear in a few big-league games during an injury crisis, but he's unlikely to have much fantasy impact even if given a surprising amount of playing time.

Marlins' Steve Lombardozzi: Outrighted to Triple-A

Marlins' Steve Lombardozzi: DFA'd Tuesday
Lombardozzi was designated for assignment by the Marlins on Tuesday, Andre Fernandez of the Miami Herald reports.
Lombardozzi was ousted from the roster to clear room for Christian Colon, who was claimed off waivers from the Royals. The 28-year-old saw a brief stint with the big club this season due to a myriad of injuries to the Marlins' infield, though he failed to take advantage of his opportunity, going hitless in eight at-bats. While Lombardozzi has a decent amount of major-league experience to his name, he hasn't collected a hit in the big leagues since 2014, so he likely won't be viewed as anything more than organizational depth wherever he winds up.

Marlins' Steve Lombardozzi: Returns to minors Sunday
Lombardozzi was optioned to Triple-A New Orleans on Sunday.
Lombardozzi was promoted to the majors last week after a glut of injuries popped up within the Marlins' infield, leaving the team severely shorthanded. The 28-year-old went hitless in his eight at-bats and will now return to Triple-A New Orleans, where he'll continue to be relied upon as organizational infield depth.

Marlins' Steve Lombardozzi: Contract purchased from Triple-A
The Marlins purchased Lombardozzi's contract from Triple-A New Orleans on Wednesday, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.
Adeiny Hechavarria (oblique) was the latest Marlins infielder to hit the disabled list Wednesday after Martin Prado (hamstring) and Miguel Rojas (thumb) preceded him earlier this week, so Lombardozzi was brought in to add some insurance around the diamond. It's not expected that Lombardozzi, who last appeared in the big leagues in 2015 with the Pirates, will see meaningful at-bats, but he should act as the top backup at multiple spots until the Marlins are able to get either Hechavarria or Prado back from injury.

Lombardozzi signed a minor league deal with the Nationals on Monday and will start at Triple-A Syracuse, William Ladson of MLB.com reports.
Lombardozzi will settle in at the Triple-A level to start, but could be able to secure a bench role for the Nationals during the season. The 27-year-old infielder has only played in 32 MLB games since the start of the 2014 season.

Steve Lombardozzi: Released by White Sox on Thursday
Lombardozzi was released by the White Sox on Thursday, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Lombardozzi had a lot of roadblocks in his way to major league playing time, so the White Sox decided to let him go. He is only 27 years old and does possess a decent amount of major legume experience at many positions, so he could be swiped up by another club pretty quickly.

White Sox's Steve Lombardozzi: Reassigned to minor league camp Monday
The White Sox reassigned Lombardozzi to minor league camp Monday, the Chicago Tribune reports.
Injuries elsewhere on the roster could have opened up a roster spot for Lombardozzi, but such an opportunity never emerged. He should report to Triple-A Charlotte, and he could find himself back on the major league roster if they need help in the infield.

Pirates' Steve Lombardozzi: Will become free agent
Lombardozzi will elect to become a free agent, Rich Dubroff of Comcast Sports Net reports.
Lombardozzi was optioned to Triple-A in July after playing in 12 games with the Pirates this season. The utility infielder could potentially get a spring training invite from a club in 2016, but his fantasy ceiling will likely keep him off fantasy rosters in most formats.
