    The Yankees signed Ventura to a minor-league contract Thursday, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports. Ventura, 24, pitched at three different minor-league levels in the Mets organization in 2024, compiling a 2.96 ERA and 55:20 K:BB across 48.2 innings. The righty reliever has been assigned to Double-A Somerset.

    Ventura had Tommy John surgery in the spring, Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports. As Eddy notes, Ventura seemed poised for a potential breakout this season after impressing during minor-league spring training, but he will now be sidelined into the 2022 season. Ventura, 21, logged a 3.78 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 54 strikeouts in 52.1 innings across three rookie levels in 2019.
