Brewers' Brandon Sproat: Makes Opening Day rotation
Sproat has made the Brewers' Opening Day rotation and is slated for his season debut Sunday versus the White Sox, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Injuries to others pushed Sproat up in the pecking order, but he might have captured a spot in the Brewers' rotation regardless. The right-hander was charged with five runs but had a 10:2 K:BB over nine innings during Cactus League play. After facing the White Sox, Sproat tentatively lines up to go up against the Royals and Nationals, giving the 25-year-old early-season streaming appeal.

Brewers' Brandon Sproat: Breaking camp with Brewers
Manager Pat Murphy said Saturday that Sproat will be included on the Brewers' Opening Day roster, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Sproat has allowed five earned runs in nine innings this spring while striking out 10 batters and walking two. Despite his difficulties with run prevention, he'll officially be a part of Milwaukee's Opening Day pitching staff, and injuries to Brandon Woodruff (lat), Quinn Priester (wrist) and Kyle Harrison (finger) make it likely that he'll begin the year in the rotation. Once the Brewers' injured starters begin to return, Sproat could be relegated to the bullpen or sent down to Triple-A Nashville.

Brewers' Brandon Sproat: Debuts with Brewers
Sproat allowed one earned run over 1.1 innings in Friday's spring game against the White Sox. He gave up three hits, struck out three batters and walked one.
Sproat made his first start since being acquired from the Mets and tossed 35 pitches while hitting 99.8 mph with his fastball, per Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Sproat is in the mix for a spot at the back end of Milwaukee's rotation, though it may be a bit until roles are sorted out.

Brewers' Brandon Sproat: Dealt to Milwaukee
The Mets traded Sproat and Jett Williams to the Brewers on Wednesday in exchange for Freddy Peralta and Tobias Myers, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
Sproat broke into the majors toward the end of the 2025 season, posting a 4.79 ERA and 1.21 WHIP to go with a 17:7 K:BB over 20.2 innings (four starts) with the Mets. The 25-year-old righty's chances of beginning 2026 in the Brewers' rotation increase with Peralta and Myers now out of the picture, though Sproat may still be more likely to open the campaign at Triple-A Nashville given Milwaukee's depth of rotation options.

Mets' Brandon Sproat: Could be used in bullpen in 2026
The Mets are considering using Sproat as a multi-inning reliever in 2026, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.
The Mets still view Sproat as a starting pitcher over the long haul, but there's currently not room for him in the major-league rotation and the club believes he can help in the bullpen. Sproat made four starts for the Mets in September, finishing with a 4.79 ERA and 17:7 K:BB over 20.2 innings. The 25-year-old posted a 4.24 ERA and 113:53 K:BB across 121 frames in 2025 with Triple-A Syracuse.

Mets' Brandon Sproat: Crumbles in fifth inning
Sproat (1-2) took the loss Friday against the Marlins, allowing four runs on five hits and one walk in 4.2 innings. He struck out two.
Sproat cruised through four innings to begin his outing, but things fell apart for him when he conceded four runs amid the Marlins' six-run fifth frame. The two strikeouts were his fewest of the season, as he was unable to give the playoff-hopeful Mets a quality showing in what was a crucial game for the club. Sproat has struggled with run prevention despite not giving up a single home run in four starts, as he'll wrap up the regular season with a 4.79 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 17:7 K:BB over 20.2 innings.
