Michael Baron@michaelgbaron5H agoAnd for all those saying Edwin Díaz wanted the Dodgers all along, maybe that's true. But, these are the Steve Cohen Mets. They should've made him want them, if they in fact wanted him as badly as they needed him. That's what the Dodgers did for him in the end. -
Michael Baron@michaelgbaron6H agoYou want to guess that Edwin Díaz wanted to leave the #Mets, that he wanted to join the team nobody could beat, fine. Even so, if you believe they left it at 3/66, that's still not a big market way to handle a negotiation for the best closer in the game, esp with LA lurking.

Michael Baron@michaelgbaron6H agoI'd venture to say this is one of the worst days for the #Mets under Steve Cohen's ownership. And there have been a lot of bad days, something I know he has aimed to change from a perception perspective. Want to be like the Dodgers? Act like the Dodgers.

Michael Baron@michaelgbaron9H agoPer @ragazzoreport - there's mutual between the #Mets and Starling Marte on a new deal. He had a good year in a reduced role last year, was a good presence for Juan Soto, and is good for the room in general.

Anthony DiComo@AnthonyDiComo9H agoMLB held its Draft lottery today. The Mets' top pick in the 2026 Draft will be No. 27 overall. The Mets once again had their top selection docked 10 spots as penalty for exceeding the second CBT threshold, which is why they're picking so low.

Michael Baron@michaelgbaron9H agoDevin Williams, new #Mets closer, per David Stearns. What that means in front of Williams, who knows. Right now, all they have is Brooks Raley as a lock for Opening Day. AJ Minter will probably start on the IL.

Mike Puma@NYPost_Mets12H agoTwo other factors that didn’t help the Mets in trying to retain Edwin Diaz: Diaz’s brother Alexis was with the Dodgers last season and spoke glowingly of the staff and infrastructure. Also, Edwin Diaz was less than thrilled the Mets dumped pitching coach Jeremy Hefner.
