  • Grizzlies' Javon Small: Ruled out Monday

Small (back) won't play Monday against Phoenix. Small was tabbed as doubtful on the team's initial injury report for Monday's clash, so this update comes as no surprise. His next chance to suit up will arrive Wednesday against the Knicks.

  • Grizzlies' Javon Small: Unlikely to play Monday

Small (back) is doubtful for Monday's game against the Suns. After suiting up in three straight games, Small is expected to miss Monday's contest due to lower-back soreness. The Grizzlies will be extremely shorthanded in the backcourt, opening up playing time for the likes of Walter Clayton (ankle), Cam Spencer and Adama Bal.

  • Grizzlies' Javon Small: Available to play

Small (back) is available for Wednesday's meeting with the Spurs. Small is back after a one-game absence, and he will likely start versus San Antonio. Small's return could mean fewer minutes for DeJon Jarreau.

  • Grizzlies' Javon Small: Won't play vs. Hawks

Small (back) is out for Monday's game against Atlanta. Small was added to the injury report earlier Monday due to lower-back soreness, and the team has determined that he won't be able to suit up. Cedric Coward (personal), Jahmai Mashack (ankle) and Cam Spencer (back) are also out, which should leave plenty of opportunity for Rayan Rupert, DeJon Jarreau and Walter Clayton in the backcourt.

  • Grizzlies' Javon Small: Questionable for Monday

Small is questionable for Monday's game against the Hawks with lower back soreness. Small was a very late addition to the injury report. He's been averaging 15.9 points, 4.7 rebounds and 4.1 assists over his last seven games, so his potential absence would open up a lot of minutes in the backcourt.

  • Grizzlies' Javon Small: Starting Friday

Small will start Friday's game against the Celtics. The rookie second-rounder will step into the starting five due to the absence of Cedric Coward (personal). As a starter this season (five games), Small has averaged 14.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 1.4 steals in 29.4 minutes per contest.

  • Grizzlies' Javon Small: Drops career-high 23 points

Small posted 23 points (6-9 FG, 4-6 3Pt, 7-7 FT), three rebounds, three assists and two steals in 23 minutes during Friday's 126-110 loss to the Pistons. Small continues to deliver, despite shifting between the bench and the starting unit. With Memphis openly resting players, Small's playing time has been tough to project. However, he has scored in double figures in four of the past five games, averaging 15.0 points, 3.8 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 1.4 steals and 2.0 three-pointers during that span, which is good enough for top-60 value. While there is certainly an element of risk, Small is someone to consider adding across most formats.

  • Grizzlies' Javon Small: Starting Thursday

Small will start Thursday versus the Mavericks. Small should get all the run he can handle as one of the eight available players on the Memphis roster for Thursday's game. Across two starts this season, Small has posted averages of 12.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 2.0 triples and 1.0 steals per game.

  • Grizzlies' Javon Small: Pops for 19 points

Small finished Monday's 126-115 loss to the Nets with 19 points (7-14 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 3-5 FT), seven rebounds, three assists and two steals across 32 minutes. Small overcame a slow start to the game, ending with 19 points in 32 minutes. Memphis continues to rest players on a regular basis, allowing Small to play a sizeable role. In 11 appearances over the past month, he has managed to put up top-50 value in nine-category leagues, averaging 12.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.8 three-pointers. Assuming the inconsistent playing time is tolerable, Small makes for a viable addition to most rosters.

  • Grizzlies' Javon Small: Starting nod Monday

Small is in the starting lineup for Monday's game against the Nets. With Ty Jerome (calf), Scotty Pippen (toe) and Cedric Coward (knee) all inactive, Small will enter the starting lineup for the fourth time this season. In his first three starts, the West Virginia product averaged 12.0 points, 5.7 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 1.3 steals across 29.0 minutes per contest. Small figures to see a heavy dose of minutes Monday for a banged-up Grizzlies squad.

  • Grizzlies' Javon Small: Season-high 33 minutes

Small finished with 11 points (4-10 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 2-3 FT), seven rebounds, five assists, two steals and one block in 33 minutes during Wednesday's 122-114 loss to the Trail Blazers. A healthy inactive for the Grizzlies' previous game Tuesday in Minnesota, Small was not only back in the rotation, but he started and logged a season-high minutes load. He ended the game with a full stat line and is now averaging 12.4 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 1.8 three-pointers and 1.2 steals over his past 11 appearances. A two-way player, Small is eligible to play in all but one of the Grizzlies' remaining 21 games, so he should be a relatively stable part of the rotation moving forward so long as Memphis remains shorthanded. Expect at least some dip in playing time from what Small received Wednesday, however, as the Grizzlies are likely to get all of Cedric Coward (knee), Scotty Pippen (toe) and Ty Jerome (calf) back for their next game Saturday versus the Clippers.

  • Grizzlies' Javon Small: Reverting to bench role Sunday

Small is not in the Grizzlies' starting lineup against the Pacers on Sunday, Tony East of Forbes.com reports. The rookie second-rounder made his first NBA start against the Warriors on Wednesday and was in the starting five in Friday's loss to the Mavericks, when he logged nine points, five assists, four rebounds, two steals and one three-pointer over 26 minutes. Small will return to the bench for Sunday's contest while the Grizzlies roll with a starting five of Walter Clayton, Scotty Pippen, GG Jackson, Jaylen Wells and Olivier-Maxence Prosper.

  • Grizzlies' Javon Small: Modest line in first NBA start

Small amassed 16 points (6-8 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 1-1 FT), six rebounds and four assists over 28 minutes during Wednesday's 133-112 loss to the Warriors. The rookie second-rounder made his first NBA start Wednesday and put together a nice stat line, finishing as the Grizzlies' third-leading scorer behind GG Jackson (24 points) and Ty Jerome (22 points). Small has seen his minutes increase since late January, though it's unclear whether he'll remain in the starting lineup ahead of the likes of Scotty Pippen and Cam Spencer for as long as Cedric Coward (knee) is sidelined.

  • Grizzlies' Javon Small: Logs career-high 22 points

Small ended with 22 points (7-10 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 6-6 FT), six rebounds, four assists and one block across 28 minutes during Saturday's 122-115 loss to the Trail Blazers. Ja Morant's (elbow) extended absence has sent ripples through Memphis' rotation, and it's resulted in meaningful minutes for Small off the bench. A turf toe injury stymied Small's league debut earlier in the season, but the team's decision to keep the rookie with the parent club could begin to pay dividends as they navigate a campaign that seems to be the beginning of a rebuild.

  • Grizzlies' Javon Small: Will play Tuesday

Small (toe) is available for Tuesday's game against the Jazz. Small hasn't played since early November due to a left turf toe injury but will return to the lineup Tuesday. With Cedric Coward (heel), Ja Morant (ankle) and several other Memphis players sidelined, Small could see meaningful burn during his return.

  • Grizzlies' Javon Small: Remains out indefinitely

Small (toe) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against Portland. Small hasn't been available to play since Nov. 7 due to turf toe, and there remains no clear timetable for his return to action. He can be considered week-to-week moving forward.

  • Grizzlies' Javon Small: To be re-evaluated in three weeks

Small (toe) will be re-evaluated in three weeks, the Grizzlies announced Saturday. Small has been sidelined since being diagnosed with turf toe back on Nov. 8. Based on this timetable, Small's earliest return date would be Dec. 7 against the Trail Blazers. Small is on a two-way contract and has appeared in eight regular-season games thus far for 12.5 minutes per contest.

  • Grizzlies' Javon Small: Still sidelined

Small (toe) won't play in Saturday's game against Cleveland. Small is battling turf toe on his left foot, and the issue will keep him sidelined for a fourth consecutive game. It's unclear when he'll be able to return to the hardwood, but his absence should have minimal impact on the Grizzlies' rotation. His next chance to play will come Tuesday against San Antonio.

  • Grizzlies' Javon Small: Ruled out for Tuesday

Small (toe) has been ruled out for Tuesday's game against the Knicks. Small will miss his second consecutive contest due to left toe soreness, and his next chance to play will come Wednesday against the Celtics. The rookie second-rounder has seen little playing time of late, so his absence shouldn't cause any significant waves in the rotation.

  • Grizzlies' Javon Small: Sidelined Sunday

Small (toe) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Thunder. Small will be sidelined Sunday due to left toe soreness. The rookie guard logged double-digit minutes in each of the first five games of the season but has seen a reduced role since, so his absence shouldn't significantly impact the Grizzlies' rotation.
