Joseph Cheek: Hits free agency
Cheek (foot) wasn't tendered a contract by the Steelers earlier in the offseason and is an unrestricted free agent, freelance NFL writer Howard Balzer reports.
Cheek picked up the foot injury in the preseason and was waived/injured at roster cutdowns, ultimately reverting to the Steelers' injured reserve when he went unclaimed by the league's other 31 teams. It's unclear if the 26-year-old is 100 percent healthy.

The severity of the injury is not clear, but Cheek was ruled out from returning to the game. The 25-year-old was hoping to earn a spot on the 53-man roster as a reserve offensive lineman.
