Simon was signed to the active roster Wednesday, Randy Lange of the Jets' official site reports.
Simon was with the Jets for the entire preseason but didn't survive final roster cuts ahead of the season opener. He takes the roster spot of Brian Winters (abdomen), who was placed on injured reserve Wednesday.
