  • Elijah Dotson: Doesn't make roster cut

The Falcons waived Dotson on Saturday, Terrin Waack of the team's official site reports. Dotson ranked second on Atlanta with 77 rushing yards during the three-game preseason slate, but he averaged only 3.9 yards per carry, and most of his yardage came on one 41-yard scamper. Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier should log the vast majority of the Falcons' carries this season, but with Dotson out of the picture, the No. 3 RB battle appears to be between Carlos Washington (hamstring), Nathan Carter and Jashaun Corbin.

  • Falcons' Elijah Dotson: Goes nowhere in preseason opener

Dotson rushed five times for zero yards and caught his lone target for eight yards during Friday's 17-10 preseason loss to the Lions. The undrafted running back out of Northern Colorado started his career with the Chargers in 2023 and made four appearances as a rookie but failed to make their initial 53-man roster last season. He joined the Falcons' practice squad last winter and earned a reserve/future contract after the 2024 campaign. Dotson will likely have to settle for a practice-squad role again.

  • Falcons' Elijah Dotson: Lands in Atlanta

The Falcons signed Dotson to a reserve/future contract Monday, Terrin Waack of the team's official site reports. The Northern Colorado product was added to the Falcons' practice squad in early December after failing to make the Chargers' 53-man roster before the regular season. Dotson appeared in four games with the Chargers in 2023, taking four carries for six yards across 34 total snaps (15 offensive and 19 on special teams). He's expected to compete for a reserve role in Atlanta's backfield as the team begins its offseason activities.

  • Elijah Dotson: Headed to Atlanta

The Falcons signed Dotson to the practice squad Tuesday, Terrin Waack of the team's official site reports. Dotson was unable to make the Chargers' 53-man roster at the end of training camp, but he will head to Atlanta and be available to provide depth at running back if needed on game day. Dotson appeared in four regular-season games for the Chargers in 2023 and turned four carries into six yards while adding two catches on as many targets for 13 yards.

  • Elijah Dotson: Doesn't make Bolts' 53-man roster

Dotson was waived by the Chargers on Tuesday. Dotson managed to catch on with the Chargers' 53-man roster in 2023 after a productive preseason, but he wasn't able to replicate that success this time around. He finished the season with 38 rushing yards on 11 carries and ultimately wasn't able to stick around in a depth backfield role. Should he clear waivers, Dotson could sign to the Chargers' practice squad or search for opportunities elsewhere.

  • Elijah Dotson: Staying in Los Angeles

The Chargers signed Dotson to their practice squad Tuesday. Dotson will stick around with Chargers after being waived from the active roster Saturday. The 24-year-old carried the ball four times for six yards in four games played this season and will now wait for an opportunity to be elevated off the practice squad.

  • Elijah Dotson: Let go by Bolts

The Chargers waived Dotson on Saturday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Dotson has not seen seen the field since the Week 4 win over Las Vegas. His playing time early in the year correlated with the absence of RB1 Austin Ekeler, but he's been a nonfactor with Ekeler available over the past seven games. With Joshua Kelley and Isaiah Spiller both ahead of him on the depth chart, it's not surprising to see the Chargers cut Dotson loose ahead of Sunday's game versus New England. The undrafted free agent will now be subject to waivers, and he will become an unrestricted free agent if he goes unclaimed.

  • Chargers' Elijah Dotson: Inactive Monday

Dotson is inactive for Monday's game against the Cowboys. With top back Austin Ekeler back in action Monday, Dotson is the odd man out in the Chargers' Week 6 backfield. As a result, Joshua Kelley and Isaiah Spiller are on hand to work behind Ekeler. In that context, Dotson is off the fantasy radar until injuries hit the team's RB corps.

  • Chargers' Elijah Dotson: Gets six touches in loss

Dotson carried the ball four times for six yards in Sunday's 27-24 overtime loss to the Titans. He also caught two passes for 13 yards. Dotson only played nine offensive snaps total, so that he touched the ball in six of those is impressive. Perhaps more crucially for fantasy managers, the undrafted rookie does appear to be the clear backup to Joshua Kelley, who himself filled in for the injured Austin Ekeler (ankle). Expect a high-octane offensive game in an interesting Week 3 matchup against the Vikings.

  • Chargers' Elijah Dotson: Stays on 53-man roster

Dotson made Los Angeles' 53-man roster Tuesday, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports. The multi-positional athlete tallied 146 yards on 18 carries across three preseason games, but it's likely his utility as a special teams asset that ultimately helped the undrafted rookie land a spot on active roster. The Chargers opted to keep four running backs at this juncture with Austin Ekeler, Joshua Kelley and Isaiah Spiller all figuring to see more offensive snaps if the roster remains unchanged entering Week 1.
