FRESNO, Calif. (AP) Ja'Vance Coleman had 21 points and 11 rebounds, and Fresno State captured the McCaffrey Classic tournament title Saturday night with an 80-65 victory over Mississippi Valley State.
Chris Berry and Donovan Morris added 17 points apiece for the young but unbeaten Bulldogs (4-0), whose roster includes nine freshmen. Berry also had 10 rebounds.
Sanford Speech scored 17 points for Mississippi Valley State (2-3), including four 3-pointers. Solomon Forbes added 16 on 6-of-23 shooting.
Fresno State outrebounded the Delta Devils 51-38 and won easily despite committing 20 turnovers. The Bulldogs made 10 of 17 3-pointers, including four apiece by Coleman and Morris.
Mississippi Valley State opened the second half with an 11-2 scoring run to cut Fresno State's lead to 33-30, but the Bulldogs responded with a 27-3 run of their own, including nine points by Hector Hernandez.
The Delta Devils got back within 10, but couldn't overcome their 19.4 percent shooting in the first 20 minutes.
Ronald Alexander grabbed 14 rebounds and blocked four shots for the Delta Devils.
Coleman, who scored 41 points over two games, was named the tournament MVP.
