ITTA BENA, Miss. (AP) -- Joe Martin and Marcus Jones scored 10 points each and Alabama A&M beat Mississippi Valley State 63-59 Saturday night, despite shooting 29.6 percent in the second half.
It was an ugly shooting performance for Alabama A&M (5-8, 2-1 Southwestern Athletic Conference) from the start. The Bulldogs shot 31 percent in the first half, but Alabama A&M made seven 3-pointers and went 22-of-29 from the free-throw line.
Mississippi Valley State (3-8, 1-1) shot 51.4 percent in the second half, but was just 4-of-13 from the free-throw line.
Valley led 27-21 at halftime.
Sanford Speech led the Delta Devils with 19 points. Ronald Alexander had eight points and 12 rebounds for Valley.
