NORFOLK, Va. (AP) -Michael Deloach scored 29 points and Norfolk State never trailed in defeating Delaware State 72-61 on Saturday night.
The Spartans (4-11, 2-2 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) prevented the Hornets from winning two in a row for the first time this season and extended Delaware State's road losing streak to 13 games.
Norfolk State led 33-24 at halftime and by as many as 24 points in the second half. The Spartans scored 21 points off 19 turnovers by Delaware State (3-15, 1-2).
The Hornets, however, outrebounded the Spartans 36-24, including 22-9 on the offensive boards.
Deloach, who ranks first in the MEAC in scoring at 20.4 points per game, was 11-for-16 from the field and 5-for-7 from 3-point range. Corey Lyons added 19 points for Norfolk State.
Marcus Neal paced Delaware State with 18 points and Tramaine Johnson added 11.
