HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) -Cornelius Hester scored 17 points to lead Alabama A&M in a 78-65 over Mississippi Valley State on Saturday night.
Jonathan Belt added 12 points and Desmond Jackson and Trant Simpson chipped in with 11 apiece for the Bulldogs (7-11, 5-5, Southwestern Athletic Conference), who have won two straight games and four of five.
Eric Petty led the Delta Devils (3-20, 3-7) with a double-double, scoring 19 and grabbing 13 boards. Julius Cheeks added 15 points for MVSU, which dropped its third straight.
The Bulldogs led by seven points at halftime, and clinched the win by outscoring MVSU 47-41 in the second half.
Alabama A&M shot 51.2 percent from the field in the game (22 of 43) compared to just a 32.8 mark (22 of 67) for MVSU.
