Eagles' Jalen Carter: Likely to return in Week 17
    1h ago

The Eagles are expected to have Carter (shoulders) available for their Week 17 game next Sunday in Buffalo, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

While continuing to rehab from procedures on both of his shoulders, Carter was sidelined for a third straight game in Saturday's 29-18 win over the Commanders. The third-year defensive tackle didn't practice in any fashion leading up to Saturday's contest, but the Eagles apparently anticipate him making enough progress in his recovery program to put an end to his absence in Week 17. If Carter is able to make it back for the matchup with the Bills, Byron Young would likely move back into a smaller role along Philadelphia's defensive line.

Bears' Grady Jarrett: Rare tackle spike
    2h ago

Jarrett recorded seven tackles, including three solo, in the Bears' 22-16 overtime win over the Packers on Saturday.

Jarrett set a season high in tackles after posting between two and four stops per game in the past six weeks. He recorded his only sack of the season in Week 15, highlighting the rarity of his splash plays. He profiles as a moderate-floor defensive tackle IDP based on occasional tackle spikes rather than steady volume.

Bears' Montez Sweat: Adds to sack total
    2h ago

Sweat recorded five tackles, including two solo, and 1.0 sacks in the Bears' 22-16 overtime win over the Packers on Saturday.

Sweat notched his second sack over the last four contests, bringing his season total to 9.5. The five tackles marked his first game with more than three stops since Week 8. He remains a sack-dependent IDP whose value fluctuates with pass-rush production.

Bears' Jaquan Brisker: Notches eight tackles in win
    2h ago

Brisker recorded eight tackles in the Bears' 22-16 overtime win over the Packers on Saturday.

Brisker posted his second-highest tackle total of the season after averaging five stops over his previous four contests. His season-long production includes just a sack and an interception, limiting his splash-play profile. He remains a moderate-floor IDP based on tackle volume alone.

Bears' Nahshon Wright: Heavy tackle involvement
    2h ago

Wright recorded eight tackles, including three solo, in the Bears' 22-16 overtime win over the Packers on Saturday.

Wright logged his third game this season with more than six tackles and his first such outing with at least eight stops since Week 8. He also has five interceptions this season, though tackle totals have fluctuated week-to-week. That mix leaves him as an inconsistent IDP with big-play-driven upside.

Bears' Kevin Byard: Posts season-high tackles
    2h ago

Byard recorded nine tackles, including five solo, in the Bears' 22-16 overtime win over the Packers on Saturday.

Byard delivered his highest tackle total of the season, surpassing his usual range of five to seven stops that he's posted in 11 contests. He also has six interceptions on the year, providing consistent splash-play upside from the secondary. The combination keeps him in the high-floor IDP tier.

Guardians' Justin Bruihl: DFA'd by Cleveland
    9h ago

The Guardians designated Bruihl for assignment Saturday.

Cleveland just acquired Bruihl from Toronto in exchange for cash considerations Wednesday, but it appears the Guardians no longer see the southpaw as part of the team's big-league bullpen after they signed fellow reliever Shawn Armstrong on Thursday. Bruihl may have to settle for a minor-league deal eventually, as he holds a career 4.72 ERA and 1.37 WHIP with a 69:32 K:BB over 89.2 innings across 94 games spanning parts of five campaigns.

Yankees' Paul Blackburn: Back with Yankees on one-year deal
    10h ago

The Yankees signed Blackburn to a one-year, $2 million contract Saturday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.

Blackburn began last season with the Mets but was released in mid-August. He was subsequently signed by the Yankees, with whom he made eight appearances out of the bullpen, posting a 5.28 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 16:4 K:BB over 15.1 innings. While those numbers aren't impressive, the bulk of the damage against him came in his team debut, when he gave up seven runs over 3.1 frames against Boston. Over his remaining seven appearances, Blackburn was much more effective, yielding just three runs (two earned) while posting a 14:2 K:BB across 12 innings. The veteran right-hander will likely work as a middle- and long-relief option next season with New York and also gives the team rotation depth given his history of working as a big-league starter.

  • Justyn-Henry Malloy DET 3B
Tigers' Justyn-Henry Malloy: Designated for assignment
    15h ago

Malloy was designated for assignment by the Tigers on Saturday.

The Tigers needed to make room on the 40-man roster for recent re-signee Kyle Finnegan, and Malloy has ended up being the cut. Malloy has struggled during his time in the majors so far, posting a .656 OPS with nine home runs, 38 RBI, 33 runs and one stolen base over 123 games spanning 357 plate appearances. He's also posted a 32.8 percent strikeout rate, though he has shown an ability to take a free pass with a 12.0 percent walk rate. That and his moderate power could make him a target for other MLB clubs.

  • Stuart Fairchild TB RF
Guardians' Stuart Fairchild: Gets NRI from Cleveland
    19h ago

Fairchild signed a minor-league contract with the Guardians on Saturday and received an invitation to spring training.

Finger and oblique injuries kept Fairchild on the sidelines for the majority of the 2025 season, and he posted just a .606 OPS over 55 plate appearances with Atlanta when healthy. The 29-year-old outfielder will have a chance to win a job on Cleveland's bench during spring training, but he's likely destined to spend most of the upcoming season at Triple-A Columbus.

  • Wade Meckler SF CF
Giants' Wade Meckler: Designated for assignment
    2d ago

The Giants designated Meckler for assignment Friday, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

With Adrian Houser's signing becoming official Friday, Meckler will end up as the roster casualty necessary to make room on San Francisco's 40-man roster. The 25-year-old outfielder slashed .287/.390/.370 across 401 plate appearances at Triple-A Sacramento this past season, but he hasn't appeared in an MLB game since 2023. His ability to play across the outfield and at second base will help his chances of being claimed by another club. However, his chances of contributing in the majors are slim.

Pirates' Marco Luciano: DFA'd by Bucs
    2d ago

The Pirates designated Luciano for assignment Friday, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.

Just two weeks after being claimed from San Francisco, Luciano will once again enter the waiver process following Pittsburgh's acquisitions of Brandon Lowe, Jake Mangum and Mason Montgomery on Friday. The 24-year-old Luciano -- once considered a top prospect in baseball -- could still be an attractive waiver target for other clubs despite his career .590 OPS in the big leagues.

Grizzlies' Brandon Clarke: Early exit Saturday
    5m ago

Clarke (calf) did not return to Saturday's game against the Wizards. He generated two points (1-2 FG), three rebounds and a steal across four minutes before exiting.

Clarke suffered a calf injury during the first quarter of Saturday's contest and was deemed doubtful to return. The 29-year-old never retook the floor after departing. Memphis has a back-to-back set that begins Monday against Oklahoma City.

  • Marcus Smart LAL PG
Lakers' Marcus Smart: Regresses in blowout loss
    1h ago

Smart had five points (1-12 FG, 0-9 3Pt, 3-3 FT), four rebounds and one assist in 31 minutes during Saturday's 103-88 loss to the Clippers.

Although Smart has been effective during the Lekers' extensive injury issues, he was ice-cold in the lopsided defeat. Smart uncharacteristically converted only one of 12 shot attempts and made little contribution elsewhere. Smart was one of several players who failed to provide adequate support for LeBron James, who took it upon himself to keep the Lakers relevant in the matchup.

Lakers' Jake LaRavia: Logs double-double as fill-in
    1h ago

LaRavia supplied 12 points (5-11 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 2-4 FT), 11 rebounds, six assists and two steals in 37 minutes during Saturday's 103-88 loss to the Clippers.

LaRavia stepped in to provide support for a snake-bit Lakers roster, and he turned in his first double-double of the season during his eighth appearance in the starting lineup. If LaRavia can keep up this level of production, the Lakeers might be able to play even ball through the end of the year with easier matchups against the Kings and Grizzlies coming up next week.

  • LeBron James LAL SF
Lakers' LeBron James: Scores 36 points in rout
    1h ago

James finished with 36 points (15-28 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 3-5 FT), four rebounds, three assists, one block and two steals across 38 minutes during Saturday's 103-88 loss to the Clippers.

James worked tirelessly to keep the Lakers in this game, but losing Luke Doncic (leg) at halftime was the final nail in the coffin. The team was already struggling without Austin Reaves (calf), Deandre Ayton (elbow) and Rui Hachimura (groin), and even a generational talent like James couldn't turn the game around. Doncic's injury doesn't appear to be serious, but the Lakers can take solace in the fact that James is more than capable of picking up the slack despite his age.

  • John Collins LAC C
Clippers' John Collins: Steps up in decisive win
    1h ago

Collins chipped in 17 points (7-10 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 1-1 FT), 12 rebounds, one assist, two blocks and two steals across 32 minutes during Saturday's 103-88 victory over the Lakers.

Ivica Zubac showed significant signs of injury before finally exiting the game, and Collins was exceptional in holding down the frontcourt in his absence. Although the team has Brook Lopez available to step in, Collins has begun to show much consistency after suffering through a tough scoring slump in mid-November. Collins was brought in to help Zubac in the interior, but the veteran has plenty of experience holding down the five by himself. Zubac's potential absence could give him an opportunity to replicate some of his old magic from his days with Atlanta and Utah.

  • James Harden LAC PG
Clippers' James Harden: Posts 21 points in return to action
    1h ago

Harden registered 21 points (6-20 FG, 4-12 3Pt, 5-6 FT), four rebounds, 10 assists and two steals over 41 minutes during Saturday's 103-88 victory over the Lakers.

Although Harden left most of the heavy lifting to Kawhi Leonard during the win, he was free to roam in the second half after Luka Doncic's (leg) early exit. With Harden at the helm, the Clippers controlled the tempo for most of the game, and even LeBron James' heroic stints on the floor weren't enough to keep Harden and the rest of the lineup in check. Harden will get two full days off before meeting a familiar foe in the Rockets, where he spent a significant chunk of his illustrious career.

  • Vladimir Tarasenko MIN RW
Wild's Vladimir Tarasenko: Two-point effort Saturday
    1m ago

Tarasenko scored a goal and added an assist in Saturday's 5-2 win over the Oilers.

Both points came in the third period, providing some insurance for the Wild after they'd emerged from a first first frame with a 3-2 lead. Tarasenko is skating on the third line at even strength and got bumped down to the second power-play unit Saturday in favor of Mats Zuccarello, but he's been productive of late anyway, lighting the lamp in three straight games and delivering five goals and nine points over the last seven contests.

Wild's Matt Boldy: Lights lamp twice in win
    4m ago

Boldy scored two goals, one on the power play, in Saturday's 5-2 win over the Oilers.

The 24-year-old winger potted the first two goals of the contest, one on the clean breakaway after he stole the puck from Mattias Ekholm at the Minnesota blue line, the other on a wicked one-timer from the faceoff circle to the left of Calvin Pickard. Boldy has found the back of the net in four straight games, and his 22 goals in 36 games on the season has him tied for third in the race for the Rocket Richard Trophy with three other players, including teammate Kirill Kaprizov.

Blais has been recalled from AHL Laval by the Canadiens, the team announced Sunday.

Blais is back in the NHL for the first time since returning to the Canadiens via waivers from Toronto. The 29-year-old appeared in eight games this season with the Maple Leafs, registering a goal and two assists. Blais will likely draw into the lineup right away given the multitude of injuries to the Montreal forward group.

Wild's Filip Gustavsson: Cruises to fifth straight win
    8m ago

Gustavsson made 28 saves in Saturday's 5-2 win over the Oilers.

Edmonton got two pucks past him in a little over five minutes during the first period, including a Connor McDavid power-play tally, but Gustavsson slammed the door shut on the visitors the rest of the way. It was the fifth straight win for the veteran netminder, and Gustavsson hasn't allowed more than three goals in a start in over a month, going 8-1-2 over his last 11 outings with a dazzling 1.70 GAA and .934 save percentage.

Oilers' Leon Draisaitl: Two helpers in Saturday's loss
    12m ago

Draisaitl notched two assists, one on the power play, in Saturday's 5-2 loss to the Wild.

The star center helped set up first-period goals by Andrew Mangiapane and Connor McDavid that tied the game at 2-2, but the Oilers' offense went cold the rest of the way. Draisaitl has been roaring in December, racking up six multi-point performances in the last nine contests while collecting two goals and 19 points, with half of that production (one goal, nine assists) coming on the power play.

  • Calvin Pickard EDM G
Oilers' Calvin Pickard: Tamed by Wild
    15m ago

Pickard turned aside 32 of 36 shots in Saturday's 5-2 loss to Minnesota, with the Wild's final goal getting scored into an empty net.

Most of the scoring took place in the first period as the Oilers emerged staring at a 3-2 deficit, and while Pickard played well the rest of the way, his offensive support disappeared. The veteran netminder has just one win since the beginning of November, going 1-4-1 with a rough 4.16 GAA and .867 save percentage over his last nine outings, but with Tristan Jarry (lower body) on the shelf, Pickard will see a heavier workload in the Edmonton crease with Connor Ingram -- who has yet to make an appearance in an NHL game this season -- as his backup.
