Lukas Van Ness GB LB
Packers' Lukas Van Ness: Fifth-year option picked up
4h agoVan Ness had his fifth-year option exercised by the Packers on Thursday, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.
The move keeps the 24-year-old under contract through 2027 and guarantees him a salary near $13.8 million. The three-year pro missed half of last season with an ankle injury, which caused him to finish with a disappointing 1.5 sacks and 19 tackles (12 solo). The 2024 season wasn't much better as he recorded 33 tackles (22 solo) and six tackles for loss in 17 games, but he at least combined for 7.0 sacks in his first two seasons. Green Bay's switch to a 3-4 defensive scheme could impact Van Ness' playing time, but with Micah Parsons still rehabbing back from a December ACL tear and pass-rush depth lost this season in the form of Rashan Gary and Kingsley Enagbare, the new scheme won't be a reason the 2023 first-round pick would be kept off the field.

George Kittle SF TE
49ers' George Kittle: Aiming to play Week 1
5h agoCoach Kyle Shanahan said Thursday that Kittle (Achilles) is aiming to be ready for the 49ers' Week 1 game against the Rams, David Lombardi of SFStandard.com reports.
This has been the sentiment all offseason after Kittle suffered a "clean" tear near the soleus muscle higher up on the Achilles in the 49ers' wild-card win over Philadelphia back in January, which typically results in a quicker rehab process. Working against Kittle, however, is his advanced age (32 years old) and just eight months between the injury and Week 1. The 49ers are surely going to be careful with Kittle and not rush him back just to have him at less than 100 percent for the first game of the 2026 season. Jake Tonges (foot) would be next in line at tight end if Kittle isn't ready to face Los Angeles in four months.

Chris Rodriguez Jr. JAC RB
Jaguars' Chris Rodriguez: Projected as lead back
5h agoSports Illustrated's John Shipley projects Rodriguez to open the season as the Jaguars' lead running back.
"Though I am not sure there will be enough of a difference between [Rodriguez's] workload and Bhayshul Tuten's worth talking about," Shipley wrote Thursday. After Travis Etienne left for the Saints in free agency, Jacksonville signed Rodriguez to a two-year, $10 million deal. Rodriguez played for coach Liam Coen in college at Kentucky, and the Jaguars have pointed out how they like Rodriguez's ability to earn the tough yards after contact after he finished eighth out of 58 qualifying running backs in yards after contact per attempt (3.46) last season. The coaching staff certainly has an affinity for Rodriguez, and Tuten is going to have to show more than he did as a rookie (3.7 yards per carry) to earn more playing time.

Calais Campbell ARI DE
Ravens' Calais Campbell: Signs with Ravens
6h agoCampbell signed a one-year deal with the Ravens on Thursday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Campbell is heading back to the Ravens where he played from 2020 to 2022. The six-time Pro Bowler will be entering his 19th NFL season, and, at the age of 40, he doesn't seem to be slowing down. In 2025, he played all 17 games for the Cardinals and registered 43 tackles (23 solo) to go along 6.5 sacks. The Ravens needed to add more depth along the defensive front with the availability of Nnamdi Madubuike (neck) and Broderick Washington (Achilles) uncertain for 2026. Campbell has a chance to start at defensive end alongside veteran John Jenkins, who signed a one-year deal in early January.

Myles Murphy CIN DE
Bengals' Myles Murphy: Won't have option year picked up
8h agoThe Bengals are declining Murphy's fifth-year option for 2027, Kelsey Conway of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Murphy set career-best marks across the board in 2025 with 52 tackles (28 solo), including 5.5 sacks, but that wasn't enough to convince Bengals brass to pick up the 2023 first-round pick's fifth-year option. He remains under contract in 2026 on the fourth year of his rookie deal, and Conway adds that the Bengals are still hoping to work out a long-term extension to keep Murphy in Cincinnati despite choosing not to pick up his fifth-year option.

Darius Slayton NYG WR
Giants' Darius Slayton: Out until July after core surgery
8h agoSlayton (abdomen) recently underwent surgery on a core-muscle injury and will miss spring workouts, but he's expected to be available for training camp in July, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
Slayton is expected to face a multi-month recovery timeline, but he would have plenty of time to ramp up ahead of the regular season in September if the veteran wide receiver is indeed cleared by the start of training camp. The Giants lost 2025 target leader Wan'Dale Robinson in free agency but are expected to get top wide receiver Malik Nabers (knee) back in 2026 and bolstered their wide receiver room by signing Darnell Mooney and Calvin Austin, in addition to drafting Malachi Fields in the third round, providing competition for Slayton's starting job.

Alejandro Kirk TOR C
Blue Jays' Alejandro Kirk: Begins throwing
10m agoKirk (thumb) has begun a throwing program at the Blue Jays' complex in Florida, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Kirk has spent the past several weeks recovering from a procedure he underwent in early April to repair his fractured left thumb. He was given a six-week return timeline following the operation, which would put him in line to return sometime around mid-May, though an updated estimate will likely emerge as he continues to check off boxes.

Matt Wallner MIN LF
Twins' Matt Wallner: Idle Thursday
1h agoWallner isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Blue Jays.
After going 0-for-6 with four strikeouts and a walk during Minnesota's last series against Seattle, Wallner will step out of the lineup Thursday while Austin Martin starts in right field for the Twins.
-
Jordan Walker STL RF
Cardinals' Jordan Walker: Keeps rolling Thursday
1h agoWalker went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run and an additional RBI in Thursday's 10-5 win over the Pirates.
That's now seven RBI in Walker's past three outings, which comes on the heels of his eight-game stretch with no RBI. The 23-year-old former top prospect is finally realizing his potential as a five-category fantasy producer during his fourth year in the major leagues. Through 116 at-bats, Walker is hitting .284 with nine homers, four doubles, 23 RBI and five stolen bases.
-
Alec Burleson STL LF
Cardinals' Alec Burleson: Piles up three more RBI
1h agoBurleson went 3-for-5 with three RBI and a run scored in Thursday's 10-5 win over the Pirates.
The 27-year-old slugger has now racked up eight RBI in his last three games, also tallying multiple hits in three of his past four outings. Burleson is off to a strong start at the dish, cementing himself as St. Louis' primary No. 3 hitter in the batting order. Through 119 at-bats, he's hitting .277 with four home runs, eight doubles, 25 RBI and 15 walks.
-
Joey Gerber NYM RP
Mets' Joey Gerber: In midst of rehab assignment
2h agoGerber (finger) struck out two and allowed two hits over a scoreless inning during his rehab appearance Tuesday at Triple-A Syracuse.
The right-hander took the hill for the second appearance of his assignment, after he previously tossed a scoreless frame for Single-A St. Lucie on Saturday. Gerber shouldn't require much more additional time in the minors to prove his health after landing on the injured list April 14 due to a blister, but his activation could be delayed nonetheless if the Mets don't have a spot available for him in the big-league bullpen.
-
Shane Drohan MIL SP
Brewers' Shane Drohan: Earns first MLB win
2h agoDrohan (1-1) earned the win Thursday against the Diamondbacks, allowing one run on five hits while striking out four over four innings.
Drohan entered the game in the third inning following Brandon Woodruff's early exit due to an arm injury, and turned in a solid outing to secure his first career MLB win. His lone run came in the fifth inning on an RBI single by Lourdes Gurriel after three hits in the frame. The performance was an encouraging step forward for Drohan, who had struggled in his previous appearances, allowing six runs (four earned) with a 5:5 K:BB across 7.2 innings.
-
Kyle Anderson MIN SF
Timberwolves' Kyle Anderson: Late addition to injury report
1h agoAnderson is questionable for Thursday's Game 6 against the Nuggets due to illness.
Anderson will presumably be a true game-time call after being added to the Minnesota injury report a few hours before tipoff. The team should have a better idea of his availability after he goes through warmups.
-
Josh Hart NY SF
Knicks' Josh Hart: Good to go Thursday
1h agoHart (back) has been cleared to play in Thursday's Game 6 against Atlanta, James L. Edwards III of The Athletic reports.
Hart was added to the injury report as questionable due to a lower-back contusion, but the issue isn't serious enough to prevent him from suiting up Thursday evening. He's averaging 9.4 points, 10.0 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1.6 steals in 34.6 minutes per game through the first five matchups of the series.
-
Kevin Durant HOU PF
Rockets' Kevin Durant: Officially doubtful for Game 6
2h agoDurant (ankle) is officially listed as doubtful for Game 6 on Friday against the Lakers.
No surprise here, as ESPN's Shams Charania reported earlier Thursday that Durant isn't expected to be available for Game 6 due to a left ankle sprain. If the Rockets extend this first-round series Friday, the superstar forward should be considered questionable at best for Game 7. Reed Sheppard and Tari Eason should continue to see heavy playing time until Durant is cleared to return.
-
Brandon Ingram TOR SF
Raptors' Brandon Ingram: Questionable for Game 6
2h agoIngram is questionable for Game 6 on Friday against Cleveland due to right heel inflammation, per Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints.com.
The Raptors will presumably let Ingram go through pregame warmups ahead of Friday's win-or-go-home matchup before updating his status. If Ingram cannot play in Game 6, Toronto would ask Ja'Kobe Walter and Collin Murray-Boyles to help pick up the slack.
-
Jonathan Isaac ORL PF
Magic's Jonathan Isaac: Another doubtful tag
2h agoIsaac (knee) is doubtful for Game 6 on Friday against Detroit.
The Magic are listing Isaac as doubtful with a left knee sprain ahead of a fourth consecutive contest. Jamal Cain is already set to fill in for the injured Franz Wagner (calf) on Friday, so it's possible Tristan da Silva will be needed to pick up a few extra minutes in Game 6.
-
Franz Wagner ORL PF
Magic's Franz Wagner: Ruled out for Friday
2h agoWagner (calf) is out for Game 6 on Friday against the Pistons.
The Magic at least left the door open for Wagner to play through a right calf strain in Game 5, but Orlando is quickly ruling out the star forward a day in advance of a critical Game 6. Jamal Cain drew the spot start in Wednesday's loss to Detroit, while Anthony Black logged 39 minutes, his most of the series, in Game 5.
-
Adam Henrique EDM C
Oilers' Adam Henrique: Expected to miss Thursday's game
35m agoHenrique (lower body) isn't expected to play in Game 6 against Anaheim on Thursday.
Henrique also missed Edmonton's past four games because of the injury. He had three goals and 15 points in 65 regular-season appearances in 2025-26. If the Oilers win Thursday, then Henrique will have another opportunity to return for Game 7 on Saturday.
-
Jason Dickinson EDM C
Oilers' Jason Dickinson: Slated to be GTD
39m agoDickinson (lower body) is considered a game-time decision for Thursday's Game 6 versus the Ducks.
Dickinson has been a game-time decision for every game of the postseason, and that's likely to continue as long as the Oilers' season is alive. He's played in two straight contests, so consider him likely to suit up again as the Oilers' season is on the line Thursday, though he was limited to 10:20 of ice time in Game 5 on Tuesday.
-
Braeden Bowman LV RW
Golden Knights' Braeden Bowman: Heads to minors
1h agoBowman was reassigned to AHL Henderson on Thursday, per SinBin.vegas.
Bowman was summoned Sunday, but he didn't draw into the lineup for Vegas during his latest NHL stint. However, he did score eight goals and 26 points across 54 regular-season appearances with the Golden Knights in 2025-26. He'll help Henderson, which is set to face AHL Colorado on Friday for Game 1 of its second-round series.
-
Trevor Connelly LV LW
Golden Knights' Trevor Connelly: Sent to AHL
1h agoConnelly was reassigned to AHL Henderson on Thursday, SinBin.vegas reports.
Connelly was recalled by Vegas on Sunday, but he didn't appear in any games during his time with the NHL club. He'll head back to Henderson, where he'll have an opportunity to compete for the Silver Knights during the Calder Cup Playoffs.
-
Elias Salomonsson WPG D
Jets' Elias Salomonsson: Undergoes shoulder surgery
3h agoSalomonsson underwent shoulder surgery Thursday and is expected to be out for 5-6 months, per Mitchell Clinton of the Jets' official site.
Salomonsson had a goal and five points in 32 outings with Winnipeg as well as a goal and nine points in 29 appearances with AHL Manitoba in the 2025-26 regular season. He also had an assist in two playoff outings with Manitoba this year. The 21-year-old defenseman might have been in the mix to make the 2026-27 Opening Night roster with Winnipeg if he had entered training camp healthy. However, Salomonsson is now likely to still be recovering from his surgery when training camp begins, which will limit his opportunities to compete for a roster spot.
-
Nikita Chibrikov WPG RW
Jets' Nikita Chibrikov: Undergoes core muscle surgery
3h agoChibrikov had core muscle surgery and will be out 6-8 weeks, Mitchell Clinton of the Jets' official site reports Thursday.
Chibrikov's recovery timeline shouldn't impact his availability for the start of training camp in the fall, but it does mean he won't be an option for AHL Manitoba during the Calder Cup playoffs. In 11 NHL games this year, the 23-year-old winger failed to register a point, and his 16 points in 53 minor-league tilts don't signal much in the way of offensive upside.
