San Diego at Colorado

Venue: Coors Field

Cameron Maybin is a big reason for the San Diego Padres' red-hot play.

Facing the Colorado Rockies hasn't hurt them either.

Maybin looks to continue his surprising tear at the plate as the Padres go for their longest single-season road winning streak against the Rockies in 11 years Saturday night.

San Diego (62-71) has won 10 of 11, including four in a row on the road after opening this three-game set with a 5-4 victory Friday.

"The list goes on of guys who are playing good baseball, and we're finding some consistency," said Will Venable, who is hitting .447 with 11 runs over the past 10 games.

Maybin continues to be at the top of that list after collecting three hits Friday. The center fielder is batting .459 in his last 11 games, raising his season average 23 points to .234.

He has a .323 average with nine extra-base hits, including three homers, in 17 career visits to Coors Field, but is 1 for 8 against Jhoulys Chacin, Saturday's scheduled starter.

The Padres have also found success against Colorado (53-77), winning eight of 13 meetings this year, including five of the last six. They're trying to win four in a row in a single season at Coors Field for the first time since 2001.

San Diego is expected to turn to Edinson Volquez (9-9, 4.10), who has won his last two starts while allowing three runs and nine hits with 17 strikeouts over 13 2-3 innings.

The right-hander allowed two runs in the opening inning Sunday before throwing six scoreless, while yielding four hits with seven strikeouts in a 5-4 victory at Arizona.

"Sometimes it takes some pitches to get your arm loose and get the ball where you want it," Volquez said.

That hasn't been the case in both of his season meetings with the Rockies, winning both behind a 2.38 ERA. Volquez battled through his last visit to Coors Field on June 30, throwing 117 pitches in six innings while allowing two runs - one earned - and three hits with eight strikeouts and six walks in an 8-4 victory.

Wilin Rosario continues to be a bright spot for Colorado, batting .333 with four homers and 10 RBIs in 10 games after getting two hits Friday, including a solo shot. The catcher's 23 homers lead Colorado and all NL rookies.

He owns a .346 average with three home runs and eight RBIs in eight meetings with San Diego this year.

Chacin (1-4, 5.55) aims to turn in a third strong performance since his return from right shoulder inflammation, which kept him on the disabled list for over two months.

The right-hander won in his return Aug. 21, allowing one run and four hits in six innings of a 6-2 victory at New York. He followed that up with another strong performance at Chicago on Sunday, but was the hard-luck loser in a 5-0 rain-shortened contest after yielding one run in five innings.

Chacin is 1-1 with a 2.50 ERA in three starts - all at home - against the Padres.
