ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Fresh off the disabled list, Bartolo Colon figures the San Diego Padres saw a spring-training version of him.

Mike Cameron and Adrian Gonzalez hit solo homers off Colon in his first start in two months, and the Padres defeated the Los Angeles Angels 7-3 Sunday.

"The power that I usually have this time of the year I can't compare to other years because I've missed so much time," Colon said through a translator. "I have to work harder now than at any point in my career in between starts in order for me to recoup all the strengths that I need. I'm definitely going to use this one to build off of."

Gonzalez, though, didn't notice any rust on Colon.

"His stuff was good. He had good movement on his sinker. He had life on his fastball," he said.

Colon (0-3) gave up four runs -- two earned -- and nine hits in seven innings, struck out a season-high five and walked one a day after being activated from the disabled list. He hadn't pitched since April 15 because of right shoulder inflammation.

"I thought Bartolo looked sharp," Angels manager Mike Scioscia said. "His stuff was good. He was in and out of the zone and had good velocity. I think a little later in the outing his pitches were up a little bit."

Colon, last year's AL Cy Young Award winner, retired 10 consecutive batters during one stretch before getting tagged for three runs in the fourth, when the Padres took a 4-2 lead.

"I feel pretty good about how things went. It was almost like a sense of relief to be able to cut loose and feel no discomfort whatsoever," he said. "There was no pain, no stiffness. The only thing I'm working through right now is building up the strength in my shoulder."

Chan Ho Park (5-3) allowed three runs and five hits in 5 2/3 innings for the Padres. He struck out four and walked three to help the Padres win their fifth series out of their last seven.

"He's the one that kept us in the game," Gonzalez said.

Cameron hit a solo homer in the first but the Angels scored two runs in the bottom half to take a 2-1 lead. Garret Anderson hit an RBI double and Tim Salmon singled in Anderson.

San Diego came back with two outs in the fourth. Gonzalez hit a 1-2 pitch into the right-field seats to tie it.

"He just happened to leave that one a little up and more middle than he wanted to," Gonzalez said. "With two strikes, you just got to be aggressive and I put a good swing on the ball."

Vinny Castilla and Josh Barfield had back-to-back RBI singles that made it 4-2.

Maicer Izturis started at shortstop while Orlando Cabrera got the day off, and Izturis committed a fielding error in the fourth that led to two unearned runs.

"With our offense not really producing at the level we need it to, our margin of winning is very, very thin," Scioscia said. "So you've got to play good defense, you have to pitch well and you have to use every bit of situational hitting you can."

The Angels closed to 4-3 in the fifth on an RBI single by Chone Figgins. They had two runners on with two outs in the seventh, but Scott Linebrink got Figgins to fly to center to end the threat.

Castilla's two-run double off Brendan Donnelly extended San Diego's lead to 6-3 in the eighth.

Eric Young started in place of Dave Roberts in left field for the Padres, a day after Roberts bruised his right knee on the low wall attempting a sliding catch. An MRI showed no structural damage, but revealed a deep bruise and Roberts will be placed on the DL, manager Bruce Bochy said after the game. "That's a tough blow for us. He's done a great job in the leadoff spot. We're going to miss that," Bochy said. ... Angels CF Darin Erstad is day to day after leaving Saturday's game in the fourth inning with an aggravated right foot. "I'm confident that Ersty's going to be able to stay healthy enough to have a role for us," Scioscia said. "He might not be the everyday center fielder right now." ... Barry Williams, who played Greg Brady on The Brady Bunch, sang the national anthem on Father's Day. His old show was spoofed on the scoreboard, with pictures of the Rally Monkey subbing for the six Brady children.
