After coming off the disabled list early Tuesday, Rangers catcher A.J. Pierzynski has returned to the team's starting lineup. 

Pierzynski will bat eighth against Athletics starter Dan Straily. He's hitting .263/.297/.411 in 95 at-bats this year.

Pierzynski has been sidelined since May 5 with an oblique injury. He went 1 for 6 during his two-game rehab stint. Pierzynski is eligible to return Tuesday against Athletics starter Dan Straily. He's hitting .263/.297/.411 in 95 at-bats. 

Rangers catcher A.J. Pierzynski (oblique) finished a two-game rehab assignment with Double-A Frisco Monday. He went 1 for 3 and hit .167 (1 for 6) in two games.

Pierzynski said he feels good and has no issues with his oblique, according to FOX Sports Southwest. He said he expects to be ready to come off the disabled list before Tuesday's game against the A's.

Pierzynski went 0 for 3 with a strikeout. He is expected to be activated prior to Tuesday's game at home against the A's.

Rangers catcher A.J. Pierzynski is scheduled to begin a brief rehab assignment Sunday before being activated Tuesday. Pierzynski may also play a rehab game Monday, as manager Ron Washington doesn't think he needs a "mental day off" his players usually receive between rehab and major-league appearances.

"I don’t know if I can do that to A.J. and make him sit another day," Washington told the Dallas Morning News. "Besides, I want to watch the game, too. He’s up here in my office every day telling me he wants to play. I think playing him will be more of a mental day off for me than for him."
