GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- Kevin Garnett scored 23 points, including 13 in the decisive third quarter, and the Minnesota Timberwolves beat the Milwaukee Bucks 101-76 Friday night in the final exhibition game for both teams.
Garnett scored 11 points in the first 3:27 of the third quarter and the Timberwolves built on a 43-41 halftime edge. They had a 33-18 scoring advantage in the third quarter, when they also got 10 points from guard Mike James.
Ricky Davis added 16 points, James 15 and Craig Smith 13 for Minnesota, which ended the exhibition season 5-3.
The Bucks, playing with a makeshift lineup because of injuries, were paced by Damir Markota with 17 points and Ersan Ilyasova with 12. Injured Andrew Bogut and leading scorer Michael Redd were among the scratches for the Bucks, who finished the exhibition season 3-5.
Both teams open the regular season Wednesday -- the Bucks at the Detroit Pistons and the Timberwolves at home against the Sacramento Kings.
