08/10/16WRSeth DevalveHamstringPROBABLEDeValve has been placed on the active/PUP list.

The rookie tight end will begin his first training camp on the sidelines as he nurses a hamstring injury. The timetable for the injury is still unknown.

07/28/16DLDesmond BryantChestNFIBryant (chest) has been placed on the injured reserve list and will sit out the entire season, Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reports.

Entering his eighth NFL season and fourth with the Browns, Bryant was a lock to start at defensive end after a 2015 campaign which saw him record a career-high and team-leading six sacks. The torn pectoral muscle he suffered earlier this month was originally thought to keep him out 4-to-6 months, making November the soonest possible return date. Rather than push his recovery in the hopes of a return the team decided it best to shut him down for the season. Carl Nassib appears first in line to replace Bryant, but John Hughes and Dylan Wynn could see some extra snaps as well.

07/25/16WRJosh GordonSuspensionSUSPENDGordon (suspension) caught two passes for 87 yards and a touchdown (two targets) in Friday's preseason game against the Buccaneers.

According to Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon-Journal, Terrelle Pryor and Corey Coleman (hamstring) technically got the start, with Gordon then replacing the rookie for the second offensive snap. All three wideouts, along with Andrew Hawkins, ended up getting plenty of first-team work, but it was Gordon who clearly left the best impression. The 25-year-old snuck behind Brent Grimes on a double move to pick up 44 yards on the opening drive, then later outleapt Grimes for a 43-yard touchdown shortly before halftime. Gordon's lack of involvement in the time between might normally seem a bit concerning, but the Cleveland offense simply couldn't get anything going, with Robert Griffin ultimately taking five sacks on 19 dropbacks. Whatever issues the Browns offense might still need to work out, Gordon's first on-field appearance since 2014 left little doubt that his elite athleticism is in tact. He should emerge as Griffin's favorite target upon completion of his four-game suspension, though it is possible the Browns quarterback will develop chemistry with Coleman, Pryor and TE Gary Barnidge in the meantime.

07/11/16LBArmonty BryantSuspensionSUSPENDBryant (suspension) pleaded guilty to misdemeanor drug charges on Wednesday and could have his four-game suspension prolonged, Scott Petra of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.

Bryant was indicted in February on felony drug charges and originally pleaded not guilty, but changed his stance on Wednesday, pleading guilty to misdemeanor charges. As a result, the outside linebacker will receive 68 days probation which will expire on Oct. 3, the same day he is schedule to return from his original four-game suspension. However, now that Bryant has changed his plea, his case will yet again be reviewed under the league's policies, which could potentially lead to a lengthier suspension. Bryant recorded 5.5 sacks in 14 games in 2015.

08/16/16WRBrandon LaFellHandQUESTIONABLELaFell (hand) is expected to get heavy work in Sunday's preseason game against Jacksonville.

LaFell needs to develop a rapport with quarterback Andy Dalton, and merely needs to get more reps period after missing the first two preseason games. He has fallen behind rookie Tyler Boyd in the battle to be the #2 wide receiver on the Bengals.

08/15/16DLAndrew BillingsKneeDOUBTFULBillings had surgery to repair a torn mensicus Monday and has been ruled out indefinitely, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.

Billings was carted out of practice after injuring his knee last Wednesday, and is now in danger of losing his rookie season due to injury. After surprisingly sliding to the fourth round of the draft, Billings seemed a solid investment for the Bengals' defensive front, which is also without Brandon Thompson right now while he recovers from last season's torn ACL.

08/02/16TETyler KroftKneeQUESTIONABLEKroft (knee) participated in some rehab exercises during Wednesday's practice, Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com reports.

Kroft originally pegged Week 1 as a target for his return, but given the nature of knee sprains, it wouldn't be surprising if he wasn't ready by then. As a rookie last season, Kroft helped fill the void during Tyler Eifert's absence. It remains to be seen what role, if any, Kroft will have in Cincinnati's offense once he's back to 100 percent on the gridiron.

04/27/16LBVontaze BurfictSuspensionSUSPENDIn a media luncheon on Tuesday, head coach Marvin Lewis confirmed, "I am not going to play Vontaze Burfict in the preseason," Paul Dehner Jr. of Cincinnati.com reports.

Burfict is suspended for the first three games of the regular season but is still eligible to play in the preseason by league rules. However, Lewis would rather play it safe and keep his star linebacker on the sidelines, keeping him safe from injuries and any on-the-field issue that could extend his suspension. Lewis said, "There's no reason for us to risk him getting hurt. It's hard because he's so competitive we have to continue to hold him back. One day he gets it the next day he wants to fight me on it. That's it. There's no reason to expose him to injury because he's too valuable." With Burfict out of the rotation, more reps will be allocated to young Bengals' linebackers.
