08/22/16DLRobert NkemdicheAnklePROBABLEHead coach Bruce Arians told Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com on Thursday that Nkemdiche (ankle) put in a "good day" at Wednesday's practice. "I thought the 1-on-1s were good," Arians said. "I thought the team periods, he was still a little bit high at times. He's obviously got pass-rush ability."

Contained to individual drills Monday, Nkemdiche was reticent to practice Wednesday due to lingering soreness in his ankle, but upon some prodding from Arians, the rookie defensive lineman gutted out individual and seemingly even some team work. Nkemdiche has time to prove his health in advance of Sunday's exhibition at Houston, but a DNP may be the prudent approach if there's any question surrounding the ankle.

08/20/16WRLarry FitzgeraldKneePROBABLEFitzgerald (knee) wasn't expected to practice Thursday but was seen in pads prior to drills, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.

Fitzgerald may have been able to change the mind of head coach Bruce Arians, who has been the driving force behind holding out the wide receiver as he tends to a slight MCL sprain. Individual drills would be a good start Thursday, but there's no need for Fitzgerald to push his luck with more than two weeks remaining before the regular season opener.

08/20/16LBAlex OkaforArmQUESTIONABLEOkafor has opted to avoid surgery and play with a torn biceps, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Okafor sustained the injury in Tuesday's practice, the second such torn biceps in his three-year career. In 2013, surgery was ordered up for the then rookie, but examinations may have revealed that the tear was less severe than three seasons ago. The pass rusher has totaled 10 sacks the past two campaigns, while logging 66 and 58.5 percent of the defensive snaps, but the addition of Chandler Jones along with the injury could very well result in a scaled-back role.

08/01/16WRJohn BrownHeadPROBABLEBrown (concussion) was removed from practice early Thursday, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.

One day removed from missing practice due to a headache, Brown took the field Thursday in a no-contact yellow jersey, as he did both Sunday and Monday of this week. While his early departure may have been planned, the fact that his symptoms can be traced to a concussion doesn't bode well for immediate clearance from the NFL's protocol for head injuries.

07/30/16DLRed BryantAchillesQUESTIONABLEBryant (Achilles) returned to practice Monday, Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic reports.

Discomfort in Bryant's Achilles forced back-to-back absences over the weekend, but his presence Monday allowed him to resume his quest for a reserve spot along the Cardinals' defensive front.

07/30/16DBMike JenkinsHandQUESTIONABLEJenkins (hand) returned to practice on Sunday, Mike Jurecki of Fox Sports 910 reports.

Jenkins had surgery for a broken hand at the start of August. He was expected to miss anywhere from 2-to-3 weeks, so his return Sunday appears to be on the early side of that original projection. Jenkins will have to battle for a role as a depth option at cornerback for the upcoming season.

08/11/16DBKeanu NealTorsoPROBABLENeal (torso) will practice "in some fashion" Sunday according to head coach Dan Quinn.

The rookie safety out of Florida suffered a slight strain in his torso during practice earlier this week, and the Falcons are taking their time bringing him back. Neal was the 17th pick in the 2016 NFL Draft and will be the favorite to start at strong safety for the Falcons this season given that his torso injury is nothing serious.

08/11/16TELevine ToiloloHandPROBABLEToilolo (hand) caught one pass for 13 yards on two targets in Thursday's preseason game against the Browns.

Jacob Tamme got the start, but Toilolo and Austin Hooper also got some snaps with the first-team offense. Each player managed just one catch, and while Tamme appears to have an early advantage, there's still time for Toilolo or Hooper to make a move before Week 1. Regardless, the Atlanta tight ends probably won't be a big part of the team's passing game this season.

08/11/16RBTerron WardAnkleQUESTIONABLEWard (ankle) has been ruled out for Thursday's preseason matchup with the Dolphins.

Ward hasn't played so far this preseason and it's unclear if he'll be able to return for the team's final go before the regular season, next Thursday against the Jaguars. He's expected to be the team's No. 3 option at running back, behind Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman, but his lengthy absence will again open the door Gus Johnson to take a shot at that role with added game snaps on Thursday.

04/27/16DBJalen CollinsSuspensionSUSPENDCollins has been suspended for the first four games of the upcoming season for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing substances.

Collins is still eligible to partake in all offseason and preseason activities, but will have to miss the first quarter of the regular season. A second round selection last year, Collins was hoping to carve out a larger role in the Falcons' secondary this term, and although he very well may still, his absence will open opportunities for his teammates to begin the campaign.
