05/15/13WRJosh CribbsKnee The Raiders official team website reports that newly signed receiver Josh Cribbs hopes to have a role on offense as much as just being a return man. "Definitely. I feel like it’s a definite possibility for competition at that position," Cribbs said. "At this point, my job is to come in and be a special teams' guru to help solidify our special teams unit in the NFL and to raise our goals and our standards. If we do that, we will become an elite unit." Cribbs also addressed the health of his knee. "I’m doing well," Cribbs said. "If we were lining up to play football in June then it would be a hot topic. I will be ready to play football when it’s time to play football, and I think that is the important thing." (Updated 05/17/2013)
02/11/13TEJordan CameronHead ESPN reports that Browns coach Rob Chudzinski, a former college tight end and Browns tight ends coach, and coordinator Norv Turner intend to develop Jordan Cameron into the next tight end to make plays, not just catches. Chudzinski’s tight end prodigies in nine NFL seasons as a position coach and coordinator include Kellen Winslow Jr. (Cleveland), Antonio Gates (San Diego) and Greg Olsen (Carolina). Turner’s in 28 NFL years include Jay Novacek (Dallas), Vernon Davis in his rookie year (San Francisco) and Gates (San Diego). “This is an offense that has featured tight ends and tight ends have always been a big part of it,” Chudzinski said of Cameron. “He has the skill set that fits.” (Updated 05/07/2013)
01/23/13QBBrandon WeedenRight shoulder ESPN reports that as expected, OTAs began with Brandon Weeden as the No. 1 quarterback for the Browns. Free agent-signee Jason Campbell is No. 2. The report says that going forward Weeden is on a one-year trial. He has to win everyone over in his second NFL season or he will become the 18th Browns quarterback to lose his job since 1999. 01/18/13QBCarson PalmerRibs Carson Palmer told The Associated Press he's a big fan of Bruce Arians' playbook. He said the Cardinals have installed about 75 percent of the offense from the playbook, but only ran about 5 percent of it during the first workout. Arizona has two more days of this voluntary minicamp and will get a better gauge during a mandatory minicamp in June. "It's very, I guess user-friendly would be the right word," the Cardinals quarterback said of Arians' system. "There's a lot on film to watch, plenty of texts in the playbooks and diagrams, pictures. It is easy to learn. It's not easy, but some systems you get in, it's difficult to learn because there's not a lot of history, but with this, there's a ton of history with this offense and this offense being successful, so it is an easy offense to get used to."
