| 02/07/13 | RB | Adrian Peterson | Hernia | In an interview with CBSSports.com, NFL Hall of Fame running back Eric Dickerson said he "watched a little bit" last season as Vikings running back Adrian Peterson came within 9 yards of his single-season rushing record set in 1984. "When he got so close, I had to watch some of it," Dickerson said. "But it was good. Its always good when somebody gets close but not break. Close but not break. ... I asked him, you want that record dont you? He said yeah, you know I want it. But it was good for the league, it was good for me, it was good for him. Hes a great player, a great guy and I hope he gets close again -- without breaking it." Dickerson said Peterson could again challenge for the record this season, but it will be tough. "Now that he got so close, the defense is going to really be after him," Dickerson said. "Theyre going to really scheme for him." (Updated 04/15/2013) | |
| 02/05/13 | WR | Greg Childs | Knees | Vikings receiver Greg Childs has indeed suffered two torn patella tendons in his knees, ending his rookie season prematurely. Surgery is expected soon. Childs appeared to sustain the injury while going up for a pass near the endzone and landing hard toward the end of Saturday's practice. He was carted off the field. You hate to see any player go down for any reason, and Greg has struggled with injuries, as we know, in college, said Frazier on Saturday. (Updated 08/05/2012) | |
| 01/10/13 | WR | Percy Harvin | Ankle | The Seattle Times reports that new Seattle receiver Percy Harvin is already making an impact. "His talent level is unbelievable, off the charts," said quarterback Russell Wilson. "He brings an explosive mentality to the game, which a lot of our guys already have. But to have him is truly tremendous. He's a guy that's been one of the best football players in the National Football League for the past several years." Harvin, 24, has averaged 1,800 total yards in four seasons and was on pace for 2,400 yards in 2012 which would have led the NFL before an ankle injury ended his season. In those nine games, he had 62 catches 12 more than any Seahawk for 677 yards. He also had 96 yards rushing and 574 yards on kickoff returns, including a 105-yard touchdown return. The Seahawks plan to use him similarly. He'll likely line up in the slot as his regular spot, but figures to get used outside, as well, and should see his share of handoffs and kickoff returns. "I'll be moving around pretty much all around," said Harvin. "There'll be a little bit of running back coming up. But right now, we're just trying to get the foundation set, just running the base plays, and we'll see where it goes from there." (Updated 05/23/2013) | |
