Draft Day 2016 wasn't as exciting as Draft Day 2014 for Johnny Manziel.
    1461907684
The schadenfreude of watching prospects fall is one reason we love the draft, but Laremy Tunsil's draft-night nightmare is a new, ugly low that provides a lesson for us all.
    1461907200
The Dallas Cowboys and Ezekiel Elliott are huge winners in the 2016 NFL Draft.
    1461905271
Ezekiel Elliott and Laquon Treadwell are big winners with the Cowboys and Vikings with Myles Jack, Laremy Tunsil and the Alabama Crimson Tide proving big stories for entirely different reasons.

Do the Cowboys get a positive or negative grade from selecting a running back in the top five? What about the Rams and their new franchise quarterback?

04/27/16LBJadeveon ClowneyFootPROBABLEClowney won't require offseason foot surgery, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.

In Week 16, Clowney sustained a foot injury that claimed his availability in the season finale and the wild-card loss to the Chiefs. Prior to that unfortunate development, he realized some of his vast potential as a pass rusher, racking up 4.5 sacks among 40 tackles (27 solo) and a forced fumble. If he can ever avoid the injury bug, he would augment an already imposing pass-rushing duo of J.J. Watt (groin) and Whitney Mercilus.

04/27/16RBArian FosterAchillesQUESTIONABLEFoster (Achilles) visited the Dolphins on Tuesday but left without a contract offer, Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reports. Afterward, Miami executive Mike Tannenbaum told Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald that Foster is "a little bit away" from being healthy.

Foster is five months removed from tearing the Achilles in his right foot, so it's no surprise that he remains in the midst of rehabilitation. Coming off a three-year span in which he appeared in 25 of a possible 48 games, an incentive-laden deal is likely in the 29-year-old's future, but a team such as the Dolphins could use his veteran presence to groom 2015 fifth-round pick Jay Ajayi with Lamar Miller poised to serve as Foster's replacement in Houston. While other organizations are sure to inquire about Foster, his status for the 2016 campaign remains in limbo.

04/27/16DBCharles JamesFootPROBABLEJames was placed on injured reserve after suffering a foot injury in Sunday's win over the Titans.

James has been playing with a foot injury the past few weeks and it finally caught up with him.

04/27/16QBTom SavageShoulderPROBABLEThe Texans intend to place quarterback Tom Savage on injured reserve, which will end his 2015 season, a source told the NFL Network. Savage suffered a shoulder injury during a recent preseason game.
04/27/16DLJ.J. WattGroinPROBABLEWatt is nearly recovered from offseason groin surgery, Peter King of Sports Illustrated reports. "I am very, very close to being back to 100 percent," he said recently.

At the conclusion of the 2015 campaign, Watt was apparently sporting five partially or full torn core muscles, yet the ailments didn't stop him from nabbing his third NFL Defensive Player of the Year award in a four-year span. In particular, he notched 17.5 sacks among 76 tackles last season, to which he added three forced fumbles and one fumble recovery in a full 16-game slate.

04/27/16DLHenry AndersonKneeQUESTIONABLEAnderson is aiming to complete his rehab from a torn ACL by Week 1 of the upcoming season, Kevin Bowen of the Colts' official site reports. "We haven't gotten into specific 'return to play' dates yet but everything is ahead of schedule so far," he said earlier this week. "My knee feels awesome."

The Colts lost both Andrew Luck and Anderson for the season during a Week 9 win versus the Broncos, but the defensive end's injury was lost in the wake of the franchise quarterback's ordeal. In any case, Anderson has embarked on his second ACL recovery -- the other occurred in high school -- as he attempts to show that his impressive rookie campaign wasn't a fluke. In parts of nine games before the injury, he notched one sack among 31 tackles (19 solo).

04/27/16DBVontae DavisFootPROBABLEDavis underwent minor surgery on his foot to "clean things out", Mike Chappell of Indysportscentral.com reports.

The procedure should improve Davis' opportunity to avoid any issues with the foot in the future. He recorded 48 tackles, 16 passes defensed, and four interceptions through 16 games during the 2015 season with the Colts.

04/27/16RBFrank GoreFingerPROBABLEGore will have surgery on a broken finger on his left hand next week, ESPN.com reports.

Gore's finger injury contributed toward him losing three fumbles this season, when he finished with 967 rushing yards and seven total touchdowns. Now that Gore has time to have his ailment repaired, the veteran will begin his 11th offseason with finger surgery next week.

04/27/16LBNate IrvingWristPROBABLEIrving (wrist) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday, Mike Chappell of the Indianapolis Star reports.

With Jerrell Freeman (hamstring) sidelined, Irving took on an increased workload in Sunday's loss to the Steelers. If Freeman isn't ready for Week 14, Josh McNary and/or Sio Moore could step in next to D'Qwell Jackson at inside linebacker. The 27-year-old Irving is signed through 2017, and he may be stuck behind Jackson and Freeman again next season.

    (Updated 12/08/2015)
04/27/16LBJosh McNaryGroinPROBABLEMcNary (groin) has been placed on season-ending injured reserve, Zak Keefer of the Indianapolis Star reports.

A reserve inside linebacker, McNary hasn't seen much of the field since Jerrell Freeman returned from an injury in Week 15. McNary finishes his season with 14 tackles in 13 appearances, after registering 28 takedowns in 15 games last season. His contract runs through 2016, but there's a good chance he'll have to compete for a roster spot next year.

    (Updated 12/29/2015)
04/27/16DBTevin MitchelShoulderPROBABLEThe Colts have re-signed rookie cornerback Tevin Mitchel and waived safety Robert Smith, per the Indianapolis Star.
04/27/16DBD'Joun SmithKneePROBABLESmith was placed on season-ending injured reserve, the Indianapolis Star reports.

Smith wasn't able to get back to full strength after knee surgery earlier in the fall. The 2015 third-round pick played just four games with one tackle in his rookie season.

    (Updated 12/24/2015)
04/27/16RBTyler VargaConcussionPROBABLEVarga (concussion) has been placed on injured reserve, the Indianapolis Star reports.

It's not clear when Varga could return from a concussion, so he was placed on injured reserve to make room for Ahmad Bradshaw.
