05/18/16WRTy MontgomeryAnkleQUESTIONABLEMontgomery (ankle) continues to nurse his ankle injury and is now off crutches, Jason Wilde of ESPN.com reports.

After undergoing surgery on his ankle in December, Montgomery has shown steady progress in the hopes of returning to the field healthy this season. "Everything is moving smoothly. My timeline is their timeline. We're all working together and just making sure the best things happen for me to get healthy", Montgomery said.

05/18/16WRJordy NelsonKneePROBABLENelson (knee) remains limited at OTAs, according to Packers reporter Jason Wilde.

Nelson is doing individual work - running routes and catching passes - though presumably not at full speed. Having suffered his torn ACL last preseason, he may be ready for full participation at some point in camp. First, he'll need to prove that he can make sharp cuts while running at full speed. Nelson remains on track for Week 1.

04/27/16LBSam BarringtonAnklePROBABLEThe Packers placed Sam Barrington (ankle) on injured reserve Tuesday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.
04/27/16DBDemetri GoodsonSuspensionSUSPENDGoodson has been suspended for the first four games of the 2016 regular season for violating the NFL's policy on performance enhancing substances, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Goodson will be free to participate in all of the Packers' offseason and preseason preparations, but will be forced to miss the first quarter of the upcoming regular season. A depth cornerback that saw more playing time toward the end of last season, Goodson's absence will open the door for teammates to fill his role on defense and special teams.

04/27/16DLMike PennelSuspensionSUSPENDPennel has been suspended four games for a violation of the NFL's substance abuse policy, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

An undrafted free agent in 2014, Pennel served behind B.J. Raji and Letroy Guion last season, notching one sack among 25 tackles. The Packers have already inked Guion to a three-year deal, and Raji may leave in free agency, leaving more snaps available to Pennel once he fulfills the suspension. However, the preceding is assuming Pennel even lands a spot on the eventual 53-man roster.

05/26/16RBAmeer AbdullahShoulderPROBABLEAbdullah underwent shoulder surgery in January to repair a torn labrum and he could miss the remainder of the offseason as he continues to rehab, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Abdullah is coming off a rookie campaign with the Lions in which he led the team in rushing yards with 597 on 143 carries, while he played the final two games of the season with an injured shoulder that would eventually require surgery. The team has elected to proceed cautiously during their potential starting running back's rehab until training camp, but he appears to be ahead of schedule. Abdullah's Week 1 status isn't currently in doubt, while Theo Riddick, Stevan Ridley, Zach Zenner, and incoming rookie Dwayne Washington should see additional opportunities this offseason with Abdullah sidelined.

04/27/16DBAlex CarterAnklePROBABLEThe Lions elected to place cornerback Alex Carter on their short-term injured reserve list, according to the team's official website.
04/27/16LBDeAndre LevyHipPROBABLELevy (hip) is expected to be fully healthy by training camp, NFL.com reports.

Levy is coming off a season in which he was limited to merely 17 snaps due to a hip injury that required surgery in October. After spending so much time out, Levy returned for the start of the Lions offseason workouts last month and has reportedly looked good in the process. As Levy continues to increase his workload, he's expected to be fully healthy by training camp, which would represent a needed boost to a Lions defense that faltered without him last season.
