Thomas was designated for assignment by the Mariners on Monday, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
The 28-year-old was sent to Triple-A Tacoma on July 21, and he'll be removed from the 40-man roster to make room for Jake Fraley (illness), who was reinstated from the COVID-19 injured list Monday. Thomas slashed .273/.379/.458 with nine homers, 46 RBI, 30 RBI and seven stolen bases in the minors to begin the year.
