The Angels designated Thomas for assignment Sunday.
He'll cede his spot on the 40-man roster to fellow outfielder Steven Duggar, whom the Angels claimed off waivers from the Rangers on Sunday. Thomas was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake on Wednesday after going 1-for-11 with two walks and six strikeouts across 14 plate appearances with the Angels on the season.
