Mariners' Mike Freeman: Optioned to Triple-A
Freeman was optioned to Triple-A Tacoma on Tuesday.
A waiver acquisition from Arizona earlier this month, Freeman didn't have to wait long for a major league opportunity with his new club. He was recalled and saw starts at second base and shortstop on Sunday and Monday, respectively, going a combined 2-for-6 with an RBI and two strikeouts. Freeman will head back down with Ketel Marte (illness) returning, but he has hit .322/.392/.425 in 92 games at the Triple-A level this season and figures to be up for good once rosters expand in September.
