Morfe gave up five earned runs while recording just one out in his final start of the year Sept. 7, but he logged a 2.61 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 10:5 K:BB in 10.1 innings over his first three starts for Single-A Delmarva.
Morfe is a fascinating prospect, as he is a 5-foot-9 right-handed starter whose fastball sits in the upper-90s and touches triple digits. He received a smaller six-figure bonus as part of Baltimore's 2023 international signing class and repeated the Dominican Summer League this season. Morfe dominated in his return to the DSL, logging a 0.82 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and 38:8 K:BB in 22 innings. The short fireballer's command is obviously a work in progress, and he walked four batters in that awful final start for the Shorebirds. Morfe is also an extreme injury risk, given how hard he throws coupled with his youth and slight build.
