The Phillies have selected Viars with the 84th overall pick in the 2021 first-year player draft.
Viars ended up coming off the board much earlier than expected, as most projections had him as a later-round talent. A high-school product out of Texas, Viars has a plus power tool that could profile well in the corner outfield or possibly at first base. He is committed to Arkansas.
