Dyer and Tommy Hunter (back) were traded from the Mets to the Rays on Friday in exchange for Rich Hill, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports.

Dyer is the main piece of this deal for the Rays, as Hunter is likely out for the season and was presumably only included as a salary dump. He's not a particularly exciting prospect, as he was the 120th overall pick in the 2020 draft and is a 23-year-old with no experience above Low-A. He's struck out 30.9 percent of the time in 36 games at that level, but his 15.1 percent walk rate and seven homers have helped him to a respectable 109 wRC+. He's also added six steals. Dyer can catch but has also spent time at both infield corners as well as right field.
