Hernandez was released from Triple-A Buffalo on Sunday.

Hernandez was hoping to parlay his minor league contract with the Blue Jays into a starting role with the big club later in the season, but that never materialized after he scuffled at Triple-A. He posted an unremarkable 4.42 ERA and 1.36 WHIP over 71.1 innings, numbers that didn't warrant a promotion.
