The Royals selected Slightom with the No. 56 overall pick in the 2026 First-Year Player Draft.
A prep righty from Illinois, Slightom has a very projectable 6-foot-5, 215-pound frame. He played a lot of quarterback in high school and can already touch 98 mph. Slightom shows aptitude for a slider and changeup and is a nice developmental ball of clay for Kansas City.
