Tim Cooney: Released by Indians

Cooney (forearm) was released Sunday, MLB.com reports.

Cooney is coming off offseason shoulder surgery and also strained his forearm during spring camp. He is expected to miss another five to seven weeks, and the Indians ultimately decided to cut bait with the 26-year-old. Cooney will likely jump in with another organization during 2017.
