Poole mustered 20 points (8-18 FG, 4-11 3Pt, 0-1 FT), three assists, two rebounds and a steal across 25 minutes in Tuesday's 121-114 win over the Lakers. Poole posted strong numbers in the preseason and averaged 21.4 points per game as a starter during the 2020-21 campaign, so this performance wasn't exactly a surprise. While fantasy managers shouldn't bank on Poole averaging 20 points per game in 2021-22, outings like this shouldn't be too out of the ordinary while he starts at shooting guard until Klay Thompson (Achilles) is likely able to return at some point in December or January.
Poole will start Tuesday's regular-season opener against the Lakers, Anthony Slater of The Athletic reports. Coming off of a strong preseason, Poole will get the nod at shooting guard as the Warriors start Stephen Curry, Poole, Andrew Wiggins, Draymond Green and Kevon Looney. The 2019 first-round pick started a handful of games last season -- seven, to be exact -- averaging 21.4 points, 2.7 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 2.9 made threes (33.7 MPG) in those contests. If Poole fares well early on, he'll be in the driver's seat to hold onto the starting role until Klay Thompson is back up to full speed in December or January.
Poole recorded 18 points (7-14 FG, 2-8 3Pt, 2-3 FT), five rebounds, four assists and one steal in 19 minutes during Tuesday's 111-99 preseason win over the Lakers. Poole has shown all preseason that he's on the cusp of taking the next step in his NBA career. While his usage figures to decrease in the regular season, it appears he's going to be one of the Warriors' key rotation players all year, and especially before Klay Thompson (Achilles) returns.
Poole recorded 28 points (10-19 FG, 6-13 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds, two assists and two steals in 25 minutes during Friday's 121-114 preseason win over the Lakers. Poole has been an absolute flamethrower through the Warriors' first three preseason contests. The 22-year-old, a No. 28 overall pick in 2019, has averaged 25.0 points on 52.0 percent shooting in just 23.4 minutes. He'll presumably start at shooting guard while Klay Thompson (Achilles) remains sidelined. Poole is quickly climbing up the list of fantasy sleepers.
Poole scored 30 points (10-17 FG, 7-13 3PT, 3-3 FT) and added five rebounds, five assists, two blocks and one steal in 22 minutes during Monday's preseason game against Portland. Poole's final line is eye-popping considering he logged just 22 minutes in his team's preseason opener. Not only did he drain seven triples, he also facilitated the basketball and made an impact on defense. Poole could certainly work his way into a starting role to open the regular season if he continues to play at a high level in Golden State's next three exhibitions.
