Tigers catcher Alex Avila was feeling better Wednesday as he continues to recover from a back issue, and both he and manager Brad Ausmus expect him to return to the lineup Friday, MLive.com reports.
"He said he's feeling better," Ausmus said Wednesday. "We're hoping with the off day tomorrow that he'll be ready to play on Friday."
Avila has yet to homer this season while posting a .220/.339/.300 line in 50 at-bats.
