Astros first baseman Brandon Laird had an excellent day out of the third spot in the order Wednesday afternoon, hitting two doubles as well as his second home run of the season. It was his first game with a hit since his season debut April 20, when he also homered for the Astros while hitting third.
The three extra-base hits raise Laird's line to .294/.333/.765 in 18 plate appearances this season.
