The Brewers have placed first baseman Mat Gamel on waivers rather than restore him to the 40-man roster, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Gamel, who has been sidelined since tearing an ACL on May 1, 2012, is a career .229/.305/.367 hitter with six home runs and 29 RBI in 240 at-bats. He remains on the team's 60-day disabled list.
