Bronson Arroyo reaches milestone in no-decision
Reds pitcher Bronson Arroyo (2-1) allowed two runs and six hits in eight innings for the second-straight start, a 3-2 win over Miami in 13 innings Saturday. It's the first time Arroyo has pitched at least eight innings in consecutive outings since September 2011.
He walked one and struck out a season-high six to give him 1,004 strikeouts as a member of the Reds, good for ninth-most on the club's all-time list. The right-hander finished the game with his first no-decision in four starts this season.
"Bronson pitched a heck of a game," said manager Dusty Baker, whose pitchers have allowed two runs or fewer in six consecutive games, the longest stretch since a six-game streak from July 10-19, 2010. "He kept some pretty good hitters off balance."
Arroyo will next start Thursday at Washington. He held the Nationals to four runs in two games (12 1/3 innings) last season.
