The Cubs have traded for pitching prospect Manny Rondon and international slot number four from the Angels for catcher Rafael Lopez, who was designated for assignment Saturday.
Lopez was batting .276 for Triple-A Iowa after a short stint last season with the Cubs. Rondon was a Dominican Summer All-Star a year ago when he posted a 2.30 ERA in 14 starts. He has gone 3-7 with a 2.94 ERA as both a starter and reliever in the Angels organization.
