The Giants have announced on Tuesday that third baseman Casey McGehee has been designated for assignment. McGehee has had a rough go of it in his first season with San Francisco.
This season, the veteran third baseman was batting .213 with two home runs in 49 games. The Giants have already given the starting third base job to the hot-swinging Matt Duffy, making McGehee expendable.
In a corresponding move, infielder Ehire Adrianza was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento.
