Reds pitcher Jonathan Broxton, who was unavailable in each of the team's last two games due to an elbow issue, was checked by the training staff and removed from Wednesday's game after facing just two batters. Broxton allowed a solo home run to start the eighth inning and then walked the next batter on four pitches before being removed.
Broxton, who dealt with a strained right elbow earlier this season, had pitched 3 2/3 scoreless innings over four appearances since coming off the disabled list in early August before allowing a run in Wednesday's game.
