The Rangers designated outfielder Julio Borbon for assignment Tuesday to make room on the roster for Nick Tepesch.
Borbon, who had one at-bat while in the majors, has 10 days to be claimed off waivers or for Texas to work out a deal with another club.
"We had some teams during the spring check in on him," Rangers general manager Jon Daniels told ESPN.com. "We weren't really in a rush to do anything. He's a big-league player. There just wasn't the spot or the opportunity here at this time. There's no doubt in my mind he can play in the big leagues."
