The Mariners interviewed former catcer Dave Valle for the team's managerial vacancy this week, SI.com reports. Hiring a manager with no managerial experience wouldn't be a first, as Mike Matheny, Bryan Price, Don Mattingly and Robin Ventura were all hired without that experience.
Valle, who played with the Mariners from 1984 to 1993, hit .237/.314/.373 in 2,775 at-bats over his 13-year career.
