Recapping Bartolo Colon's fun night
Everyone's favorite Met did it big on Monday night.

Bartolo Colon had an exciting night. Let's count the ways.
1) Colon is not known for his offensive savvy. If anything, he's known for being a poor hitter. That didn't stop him from coming this close to an extra-base hit, however -- and yes, that his well-struck foul balls earn him attention says it all about his offensive ability.
2) During any given Colon at-bat, you're more likely to see his helmet fly off than for him to reach base. That's precisely what happened later in the game. What made this sequence noteworthy is that Colon was able to catch his helmet before it hit the ground. Quick-twitch athleticism, folks.
3) Colon, by the way, also pitched. He threw eight shutout innings, striking out seven and allowing seven hits en route to the 220th victory of his career. That's a significant accomplishment, since it allowed him to move ahead of Pedro Martinez for the second-most wins by a Dominican-born pitcher:
