Miguel Rojas took hold of the primary shortstop role for the Dodgers last season after youngster Gavin Lux went down with season-ending ACL and LCL tears in his right knee during spring training. The veteran gave the team steady defense but minimal offensive production, finishing with a .236/.290/.322 slash line, five homers, 31 RBI and eight stolen bases over 423 plate appearances. Those numbers were nearly identical to what Rojas posted in 2022 in his final season with Miami and are a good indicator of what should be expected of him in the latter stages of his career. The veteran has just one double-digit homer season and one double-digit theft campaign over his 10 big-league seasons, so he's never been an exciting fantasy option. He'll be almost entirely off the radar next year, as he's expected to take on a bench role with Lux returning as Los Angeles' starting shortstop.

  • Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: Lands on injured list

The Dodgers placed Rojas on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with right forearm tightness. Manager Dave Roberts said Wednesday that Rojas is dealing with a flexor strain, per Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic, so the team will shut him down from throwing for "a while." The newly signed Nick Ahmed will see the majority of the starts at shortstop while Rojas is sidelined.

  • Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: Remains out of lineup

Rojas (forearm) isn't in the Dodgers' lineup Tuesday versus the Giants. Rojas remains day-to-day as expected Tuesday due to tightness in his right forearm. The shortstop missed the opening game of the series against the Giants on Monday, but it's believed he'll have a chance to return Wednesday. Enrique Hernandez draws the start at shortstop and is batting ninth Tuesday.

  • Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: Sitting Monday

Rojas (forearm) is not in the starting lineup for Monday's series opener against the Giants, Kirsten Watson of Spectrum SportsNet LA reports. As expected, Rojas will be absent from Monday's lineup after he left in the third inning of Sunday's 9-6 win over the Red Sox due to right forearm tightness. Enrique Hernandez will start at shortstop and bat ninth against Giants southpaw Blake Snell. Dodgers' manager Dave Roberts also said he'll likely stay away from Rojas again Tuesday, in the hopes the shortstop will be cleared to return Wednesday, per Watson.

  • Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: Avoids major injury

Rojas appears to have avoided a serious injury to his right forearm in Sunday's 9-6 win over the Red Sox, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. Rojas left the game following the third inning with right forearm tightness, which he believes is the result of taking one-handed swings with a heavy bat during the All-Star break. Rojas doesn't believe that the injury is anything worrisome, something that manager Dave Roberts echoed following the contest, saying that the infielder won't require an MRI and might be "down a couple days." Rojas is expected to miss Monday's series opener against the Giants, but he can be viewed as day-to-day thereafter.

  • Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: Exits early versus Boston

Rojas exited Sunday's contest against the Red Sox early with right forearm tightness. Rojas was forced to leave the contest ahead of the top of the fourth inning, finishing his day 0-for-1 at the plate. More information on his status will likely be provided in the near future, but in the meantime, Cavan Biggio replaced Rojas in the Dodgers' lineup versus Boston.

  • Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: Not in Saturday's lineup

Rojas isn't in the Dodgers' lineup Saturday against Detroit, Kirsten Watson of Spectrum SportsNet LA reports. Rojas has tallied a base hit in each of his last three games, but he'll take a seat on the bench Saturday while Enrique Hernandez starts at shortstop, batting seventh.

  • Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: Resting Thursday

Rojas isn't in the Dodgers' lineup for Thursday's game against Arizona. After going 1-for-7 through the first two games of the series, Rojas will ride the pine for the series finale Thursday. His absence will allow Enrique Hernandez to start at shortstop, batting eighth.

  • Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: Getting day off

Rojas is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants. For the first time since Mookie Betts landed on the 10-day injured list June 17 with a fractured wrist, Rojas will head to the bench. While taking over as the Dodgers' everyday shortstop over the past two weeks, Rojas slashed a robust .350/.386/.450 with four extra-base hits (all doubles) over a stretch of 11 starts. Enrique Hernandez will occupy shortstop Sunday in Rojas' stead.

  • Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: Tallies three hits, four RBI

Rojas went 3-for-5 with four RBI and a run scored in Saturday's extra-innings win over the Giants. Rojas recorded RBI singles in two of his first three trips to the plate before also coming around to score himself during a four-run fourth inning for Los Angeles. The shortstop continued to generate offense throughout the night, finishing with a season-high four RBI. Rojas has now recorded multiple hits in four of his last six games, going 10-for-22 (.454) over that stretch with three doubles, four RBI and five runs scored. He's batting .323 overall in June.

  • Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: Getting breather Wednesday

Rojas isn't in the Dodgers' lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rockies, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports. Rojas will take a seat Wednesday after going 4-for-9 with an RBI and three runs scored through the first two games of the series. He will be replaced at shortstop by Enrique Hernandez, who will bat eighth.

  • Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: Collects three hits Monday

Rojas went 3-for-5 with a double, two runs and an RBI against the Rockies in Monday's 9-5 victory. With Mookie Betts going down with a fractured left hand Sunday and set to miss several weeks, Rojas appears primed for a near-everyday role at shortstop. He did his best Betts impression Monday, notching three hits for the third time this season and scoring twice. Naturally, fantasy managers shouldn't expect Rojas to come anywhere near Betts' level of production, though the former Miami Marlin is having a solid season at the dish with a .292/.339/.460 slash line, three homers, 10 doubles, 15 RBI, 15 runs and three stolen bases through 121 plate appearances.

  • Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: Primed for everyday shortstop role

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said after Sunday's 3-0 win over the Royals that Rojas is expected to see the majority of the starts at shortstop while Mookie Betts is out with a fractured left hand, ESPN.com reports. Betts suffered the injury in the seventh inning of Sunday's game, when he was hit by a 97.9 mile-per-hour fastball. Fortunately for Betts, the injury is to his non-dominant hand, and Roberts said that surgery won't be necessary, but the seven-time All-Star is still likely headed for a multi-week absence. With 760 career MLB starts at shortstop under his belt, Rojas gives the Dodgers a battle-tested option at the position who's a dependable defender, but the 35-year-old doesn't profile as a high-end fantasy contributor. He's been a solid performer when called upon this season -- usually as a fill-in starter against left-handed pitching -- hitting .278 with three home runs and three stolen bases across 116 plate appearances.

  • Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: Homers in comeback win

Rojas went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run in Friday's 4-3 win over the Royals. Rojas sparked a Dodgers comeback with his fifth-inning homer off Cole Ragans. The long ball was Rojas' first since April 3. The infielder has three multi-hit efforts over his last eight games, but he's also gone hitless three times in that span. For the season, he's at a .280/.330/.449 slash line with three homers, 14 RBI, 13 runs scored and three stolen bases over 115 plate appearances. Rojas appears to be out of the mix for time at third base following the Dodgers' trade for Cavan Biggio. It's likely Rojas will settle into a short-side platoon role at second base going forward, sharing the position with Gavin Lux.

  • Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: Steals base, logs three hits

Rojas went 3-for-4 with a double, two RBI and a stolen base during Thursday's 11-7 win over the Pirates. Rojas generated three or more hits for the second time this season, with the other such performance happening May 29 against the Mets. He also swiped his third bag of the campaign, taking second base off Bailey Falter and Henry Davis in the first inning. Overall, Rojas is slashing .287/.343/.447 with a career-best 7.8 percent K rate.

  • Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: Collects four hits Wednesday

Rojas went 4-for-5 with a double, a run and an RBI against the Mets in Wednesday's 10-3 victory. Rojas started at shortstop before shifting over to third base late in the contest, and he produced his first four-hit game since last September. The veteran infielder has hit well while mostly filling a backup role this season, slashing .284/.333/.457 with two homers, nine RBI, 12 runs and two stolen bases over 87 plate appearances.

  • Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: Swipes bag, reaches three times

Rojas went 2-for-4 with a walk, a double, a stolen base and a run scored in Wednesday's win over the Diamondbacks. He doubled in the second and stole third before coming home for the Dodgers' third run of the game on a two-bagger from Austin Barnes. Rojas later added a single in the blowout of Arizona, giving him his fifth multi-hit performance of the season. The shortstop has now hit safely in five of his last seven games, while also recording a double in three of his last four.

  • Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: Collects two hits, steal in win

Rojas went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base against the Nationals in Tuesday's 4-1 victory. Rojas got the start at shortstop while Mookie Betts shifted to second base with southpaw Patrick Corbin starting for Washington. That has been the usual lineup arrangement versus lefties in what has developed into a platoon situation, with Gavin Lux starting at second and Betts playing shortstop versus right-handed starters. Rojas has performed well when given the opportunity, slashing .281/.324/.500 with two homers, five RBI, four runs and a stolen base over 34 plate appearances. Meanwhile, Lux has struggled mightily with a .148/.224/.164 slash line, though the Dodgers seem set on sticking with him for the time being.

  • Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: Belts second long ball

Rojas went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and an additional RBI against San Francisco in a 5-4 win Wednesday. Rojas put the Dodgers on the board with a run-scoring groundout in the second inning, then gave the team a four-run lead with a solo shot in the fourth. The long ball was his second through nine plate appearances this season -- a surprising development given that he hasn't posted double-digit homers in any campaign since going deep a career-high 11 times in 2018. With that in mind, it's not logical to expect Rojas to continue to flash power, especially since he typically starts only when Los Angeles faces a lefty starter.

  • Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: Will start occasionally vs. lefties

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Tuesday that Rojas will get some starts at shortstop against left-handed pitchers, but he won't be part of a strict platoon, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports. Rojas got the bulk of playing time at shortstop last year after Gavin Lux tore his ACL in spring training and was lost for the season, and he finished the campaign with a .236/.290/.322 slash line along with five homers, 31 RBI, 49 runs and eight steals. With Lux back in the fold for 2024, Rojas is slated to work in a reserve role, with Lux starting at second base and Mookie Betts taking over at shortstop. When the Dodgers go up against southpaws, Betts will sometimes slide over to second while Rojas gets an opportunity at shortstop, but Roberts' comments make it clear that this won't be more than an occasional lineup change.

  • Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: Back in action Tuesday

Rojas (lower leg) is starting at third base and batting eighth for the Dodgers in his return to action Tuesday, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports. Rojas had to be scratched from Sunday's lineup with some lower leg soreness but is back out there a couple days later. The veteran infielder is prepping for a utility infielder role in 2024.
