Mike Papi: Cut loose by Indians
The Indians cut ties with Papi on Saturday.
Despite rising up slowly through the organizational ranks, Papi's profile doesn't exactly fit that of a future major-league hitter. He closed out 2019 with a .202/.290/.258 batting line over 27 games and is now on the free-agent market.

Indians' Mike Papi: Hits MiLB injured list
Papi was placed on the 7-day injured list Tuesday due to a left shoulder strain, Tribeinsider reports.
Papi has struggled at the dish with the Clippers so far this season, posting a .202/.290/.258 slash line over 27 games. He'll aim to get back on track after returning to health.

Indians' Mike Papi: Receives invite to big-league camp
Papi received a non-roster invitation to attend Indians' spring training.
Papi spent the final days of 2018 season on the disabled list with lower back soreness, as he posted a .247/.373/.412 slash line with seven home runs in 83 games at Triple-A Columbus. The 26-year-old struggled with a 26.4 percent strikeout rate, but had a solid walk rate at 15.9 percent. More than anything else, Papi's lack of power as a first baseman is likely to keep him in the minor leagues.

Indians' Mike Papi: Lands on minor-league DL
Papi was placed on the minor-league disabled list with lower back soreness.
The move is retroactive to Aug. 29. While this effectively ruled Papi out for the remainder of the regular season, he could potentially rejoin Triple-A Columbus in the playoffs. The 25-year-old sports a .247/.373/.412 slash line across 83 games with the Clippers this season.

Indians' Mike Papi: Brought off DL
Triple-A Columbus activated Papi (shoulder) from the 7-day disabled list Sunday.
Papi had been sidelined for a little over two weeks with a sore left shoulder. The 25-year-old has supplied an .823 OPS across 204 plate appearances for Columbus this season, but his lack of a 40-man roster spot makes it unlikely he'll surface in Cleveland in the second half.

Indians' Mike Papi: Lands on MiLB disabled list
Papi was placed on the minor-league disabled list Saturday with left shoulder soreness.
Papi worked his way up to the Triple-A level last season and has a .263/.395/.444 slash line with 49 strikeouts in 160 at-bats with Columbus. The severity of the injury is unclear at this point, but the Clippers will be without the 25-year-old for at least a week.
